Hello! So I recently got a new Illegear Prodigy laptop and it works great!
...Until chrome started being a problem.
I was downloading some games from megaup and such but the download speed was like 300kb/s at most? I thought it was just a browser problem so I downloaded Brave and Microsoft Edge but the download speeds are the same. I thought it was that the server I was downloading the game from was slow. But anyway I still tried dowloading something else (a youtube vid to mp4 file) and but the same issue happened.
I thought it was just my pc acting up or something but I wanted to try one last thing - downloading a game from Steam. To my surprise, the downloading speeds were like 30mbps!? What in the world is going on? I have googled so much but I still cant find a solution to this problem.
I did change some battery settings and downloaded a few games but i already put everything i remember i changed to default settings again. The downloading speed still stays the same though.
If anyone has any clue, I'd gratefully accept the help.
PS Its a laptop with 16GB ram, RTX 2060 and i7-10750h.

QUOTE(laksamana @ Sep 16 2020, 09:38 PM) Do you stay in a house / condo? If you're using wi-fi, it could be a case of bad radio interference. Try to use a wired LAN and see whether the problem persists. If LAN is ok, then it is likely wi-fi issues .. Alright so I did as you said and connected to the router using an ethernet cable. On speedtest.net, my download speed has reached 500Mbps. The download speed on chrome still stays at 300KB/s. I tried to download a game from Steam just to test the speed again and the download speed in Steam now reaches 50MB/s.

QUOTE(LarryPizzaGuy @ Sep 16 2020, 09:54 PM) Google chrome is always known for having slow download speed... Have you tried downloading things using dedicated download software like... - uTorrent (with high number of peers) - Internet Download Manager From what I can see, its seems like the program's issue with prioritising traffic bandwidth. Some dedicated download manager is able to allocate most of the download bandwidth thus providing faster download speed. I haven't downloaded any of the software you said and I'd prefer if i could fix this problem without needing to download anything else. I think i actually might just reset the entire laptop cause of this.

QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Sep 17 2020, 11:51 AM) That's the problem, you need to get a paid account to download at full speed. Alright so I ended up resetting my entire laptop and the download speed is back to normal. My speed from those sites stated above are back to 5mbps so maybe it was some driver issue? Thanks for all the support anyways!
