Dear ladies and gentlemen,

Hi all,

It has been two months since i am trading share on klse. Previously, I mainly focused on playing swing trade but the success rate is just around 50% as i just buy near support ( cut if break support) and sell near resistance (combine with sma, trendline, volume analysis).

Recently, one of my fren who is a pro trader told me that the success rate of playing swing trade can be increased by doing tape reading and looking at how the bid and ask queue being set. So, i have spent two or three days on monitoring trading volume of a few stocks throughout the whole day. However, it has lead me nowhere as i cant really interpret what is the shark really after.

For example, out of sudden, one shark was throwing around few k lots of stock ( by doing more than ten transactions) in one single second. After seeing this, the first thing came across my mind is that the shark is distributing the share aka game over. So, without any hestitation, i just sell all my share. However, after few minutes, the volume spikes and the price goes up few bids.

So, to all senpai out thr,
can someone enlighten me on how to differentiate whether the shark is accumulating or distributing share by using the trading volume and queue? smile.gif smile.gif

I see.. thank you for replying smile.gif will try to look more on the wyckoff method u mentioned.

I think tape reading is much more complicated than i thought😥 which made me always sell on the bear trap before the stock flew😪

Haiz..before started to tape reading, i was just following my trading plan. Buy at support n sell at resistance. Works much better without even monitoring it..

Pay attention to what he says about price vs volume action to differentiate between accumulation and distribution. One of my favorite interview series.

50% win rate is very good. You only need about 42-45% win rate to make money as long as you manage your r/r.

The answer lies in the confluence of data.

Your tape reading means nothing if you're trying to buy at the top.

It means nothing if volume is low.

All the stars need to align in order for your tape reading to have meaning.

For example, when you want to buy, you must format wait for price to be close to support. Then when you see price is stalling near the low, you start to read the tickers. When you see the volume spike or sudden heavy volume, you can consider that as a big boy putting on moves. Then you also follow and put your order in.

Just reading price by itself is a difficult endeavour. Unless you have been watching the price for over 10 years.

ya.. but i personally think the 50% win rate is highly contributed by the lately bullish market. in order to hav a positive portfolio in the long run, i certainly hav to brush up more on my TA knowledge n also learn how to tape reading to hav a better picture in a whole

50% win rate why don’t you just flip a coin?

Saves so much time and effort.

I prefer investing in a business than looking at charts all day.
