Hello all,

I am travelling to KL this week for largest wedding fare.

Any questions should I ask before buying a proposal ring and wedding rings(both)?

Thank you.

Some advice:

Proposal Ring - Try to get GIA graded diamonds. GIA grading lab is the primary standard for diamond grading. You can also get AGS graded diamonds, which is another reputable lab IMO. But in Malaysia, GIA and IGI graded diamonds are pretty common. You may of course, consider other gemstones other than diamond as there is not hard and fast rule saying that it must be a diamond ring. Some people will use other gems like ruby, sapphire, aquamarine, which are beautiful in their own way. One thing good about diamonds is that they are really tough. Tougher than other gemstones as far as I know. However, if you take good care of your ring, any stones will be a good option.

Branded diamonds will carry a higher premium, as usual. Some shops will brand GIA graded diamonds as a certain brand, such as Tomei's LeLumiere or Wah Chan's Soliatire Club. It is up to you whether you want to opt for those.

Cut of the diamond is the most important thing, Excellent cut is just the beginning. You still need to check how Excellent is Excellent. Try to look for diamonds with crown angle between 33.5 to 35.5 and pair with pavilion angle between 40.6 to 41. The total depth % try not to go beyond 62.5%. This is actually a set of stricter proportions but it can still be stricter.

Lastly, survey around and compare the prices from different stores for the same set of 4Cs (Carat, Cut, Colour, Clarity).

As for wedding rings, see got purchase with purchase promo or not.

You can visit Tailored Jewel as well, they are located in an office lot within Mid Valley area. Check out their Facebook/Website as well: https://www.tailoredjewel.com/. I think they are running some promotion with vouchers or something.
