With RM500 allowance, staying in a hostel, eat delicious food on campus, I could buy flight tickets to my hometown every month.

Food rm20/day also a luxury for me.

My budget was just rm10/day those years.

No need transport living in uni hostel
Other +-rm300/month.

.... now that I think about it, rarely >rm600/month. I'm content with this budget. Granted hostel also provides wifi and other utilities from a one time fee per semester.
That's where I saved money most.

Juzt remember my old uni days, most of us need to work just to survive daily.
Our ptptn money uni will keep until end of semester, and release the balance after fees deduction.
We pay our own meal, house rent, transport, phone reload, assignment binding etc.
If got extra can belanja awek watch movies and eat pop corn

Fuck that guy. When i was in uni my budget was only rm100 per week. My fren from kelantan mucah lower than that. 1 day only eat 1 meal.

Hmm during uni day my mthly allowance was rm500....cukup2 but i complaint a bit to my parent and they increase it to rm600 mthly.

After that always feel enough and every mth shud have some spare change...

No, your father is being right with the allowance. The issue is how plan to use RM500 to spend. Example eat simple food, no Starbucks, take public transportation instead of Grab taxi, etc.

He or she should reduce online shopping and gaming top up. Food expenses also can be reduced by avoiding high class hipster cafes and restraunts. Use less grab by taking public transportation such as bus or train.

I’ve never drinked Starbucks before started working. During unidays like 10 years back, I get like RM 10 per day (for me to cover lunch). Parents think more than enough because I stay home and only need 1 meal per day. And mind you, it was in Subang where the prices are not cheap. Everyday find food cheap food like below RM 5 (chap fan market upstairs or mamak for those who know), and the remaining saved to top up prepaid, watch movie, bowling etc.

Ask her parents to cut her budget to RM1700 enough.
