Sony Ericsson introduce new lifestyle of imaging communication with first Cyber-shot(tm) phones - K800 and K790 camera phones

Sony Ericsson takes digital imaging in camera phones to new heights today with the launch of the K800 and K790 phones, the first handsets to carry the Cyber-shot(tm) brand, a true mark of imaging quality. Both are highly capable mobile phones with integrated 3.2 Megapixel digital cameras with Autofocus, Xenon flash and BestPic(tm) - Sony Ericsson's unique imaging technology that allows you to capture exactly the moment you desire. K800 and K790 combine advanced image capture capabilities with high speed data transfer, making them perfect tools for shooting and sharing high quality pictures and videos. K800 is a dual-mode UMTS/GPRS phone and the K790 is a Tri Band EDGE phone. Both are available from Q2 2006.

The handsets have a classic Sony Ericsson design, with a large screen and responsive, tactile keypad with a sleek and stylish dual front phone design. Turn the phones horizontally and there you have a digital still camera. Simply slide the active lens cover downwards and a user interface similar to that of a Cyber-shot(tm) camera automatically appears.

A completely new feature developed by Sony Ericsson is BestPic(tm), which ensures that you never 'miss' an important picture. Press the shutter button once and get 9 full quality 3.2 megapixel pictures to choose from in a time sequence - 4 pictures before and 4 pictures after the actual image you captured. All 9 pictures are displayed as icons on the display. Simply scroll backwards and forwards through the 9 images and save the ones you like best.

The K800 and K790 offer full support for a complete digital imaging lifestyle. Printing is possible without the need for a PC thanks to PictBridge(tm), a feature that transfers pictures directly to a printer by using a USB cable. Storing and managing image files on your PC are made easy with the supplied Adobe software, and the phones are among the first to feature fully integrated Picture Blogging Blogging is growing exponentially as a way of sharing personal experiences with words and images, and Picture Blogging in K800 and K790 allows users to create and update personal blogs directly from the phone in just a few clicks.

Business users will find the K800 and K790 valuable work tools while out of the office and the sleek Velvet Black casing fits neatly with the professional image. Full HTML browsing with RSS feeds and Google Search give you high-speed, graphic-rich Internet use. Support for standard push email and a connectivity suite comprising Bluetooth(R) 2.0, USB 2.0 and Memory Stick Micro(tm) (M2(tm)) means that keeping in touch is effortless. A complete entertainment package including music player, 3D gaming and an RDS FM radio are also provided for business downtime or relaxation.

The Sony Ericsson K800 is a dual-mode UMTS handset while K790 is a Tri Band EDGE handset. Both products will be commercially available in Velvet Black and start shipping globally during Q2 2006. The variants in the market will be:

my K800 last 2 weeks got prob.
suddenly the card capacity 1.9GB gone 1.6GB and some data missing.
all gone back to normal after format though...

is that cause of firmware error?
now R1KG001 got alot of bug ler... worse than R1KC....
(except the java thingy...)

done,

i oso use same firmware as u....wat bug u detected?

this one:
when u take photo using the timestamp.
lasttime green color.
now become red, like the old SE phones.
somemore, when u take photo. it'll hang there until screen standby (~1min).

then. headset.
i use the screen brightness at 50% (to make battery lifetime twice)
when u insert the headset, usually the screen would go brighter and flash for 5sec. nowe even worse, the screen is off instead, so during first 5sec after i plugged in any headset the screen very dark (like the condition where keypad is locked.)

and then. erm actually not a bug, this is a removed function that is the video preview is removed now on. but instead java restriction is also removed (yay!).

after all, i said its not a big deal, just the light prob and timestamp.
but i feel that's quite annoying for me. but no choice, must wait till the next firmware released. hope the timestamp color green again

*already ask ppl on esato about this they said its normal.

i didnt notice about the timestamp cause i don like got time and date



the brightness when plug in headset, setting the ringingtone volume, receive SMS that time, all the brightness will go 100% although i set 50%. 5Second later it goes back to 50% lols

so i think its normal

try to stick a layer of camera cover protector; eg a transparent sticker( like the one at the screen protector ), or u can skin the camera cover

no, thats not the part what im worried about.
im worried that the overall phone is laying ontop of the camera cover.
will it be loose? try taking ur phone and push the cmera cover while its closed side by side.
"click sounds". how much normally if i wanna skin only the glossy part with clear stickers?

ic.. the best way to protect the camera cover is by using crystal casing.. but make sure u test the casing 1st before u buy it because the casing might too fit until u cannot slide the camera cover. a good quality crystal casing will not cause this prob.
about the skinning thingy, u actually can DIY it by buying small piece of handphone tattoo ( about RM5 for 1 piece ) then cut into the size and stick it onto ur camera cover.

crystal case is the best.....the only part it doesnt cover is the keypad....now my keypad got scratches...

mine also got many dust, i clean it once a week...

btw ur camera cover, the 3.2 mine is purple color, lols urs seems different

Yeap. Mine is allure brown.. keypad backlight white yellowish, not purple, dat '2 in 1' crystal case cost about RM15 here..but im sure other place much cheaper..

the crystal case easily crack ....very cheap .... not nice to use ....

Do you guys realise that you all are lucky enough to be able to use PAN Network Access Point to share internet connection via bluetooth. I am using w810i and too bad it is not equiped with PAN Network Access Point .

i only used the crystal casing for the first week when i first got my phone..
later took it off coz the real phone looks better + some of the crystal casing seems to reflect the camera flash affecting ur photo..

currently im using a screen protector and DIY a camera shutter protector with every handy transparent selofan tape.. (with skills u cant even tell theres a layer on the cover )
love my bare phone..

The owner shouldn't bring his k800 with him while cycling . He should bring a cheaper phone...

what is that benefit or function of that?

3.2MP only have slight diff from 3MP...i believe all camera phones is like dat.. for example; 1.98MP, but effective pixel is 2MP, 3mp,but effective pixel is 3.2MP, so they put 3.2MP lor..

Red eyes function is to reduce red eye effect when u use flash ( especially under a low light condition )
You dont want ur potrait pics appear like a drug addict rite?( red eyes) so u use a red light reduction to avoid these.. lol

so better to use red eyes function or auto flash or what??

BestPict is a mode where it will take 8 pictures at a time and we can choose which pict we want to save. Usually, it is used to shot a moving subject. Then u can get a perfect picture....

9 photos at a time to be exact.

@scorps, go to menu, application, then photo mate.. got camera tutorial there

Which setting to use is actually depends on the location, object and lightning of the place. The best setting will be the one you try it out and get the most decent look photos.

yeah, when i bought mine that time, i feel something different with the allure brown one.

stock eaphone i put at ear it will drop out...though the sound clear but bass not strong

i use HPM-82 got remote control, stronger bass....though the sound not sharp as stock one.......but if got money, buy bose headphone and plug into the 3.5mm jack then it will be superb

erm, ya, my EQ settings is having the BASS highest (first), and Treble Highest (last one).......

cause i like sharp and clear sound =)
