onkyo tx-sr875 = yammy's rvx-1800 ,are u sure? different level wo......sr875 is high end.....rx-v1800 is middle end wo

QUOTE(craven dusk @ Dec 25 2007, 11:46 AM)
I have read few here and there. It is generally regarded starting from tx-sr875 that onkyo began to match yammy's rvx-1800 sound quality. Anything below that just doesnt compare.

QUOTE(ar188 @ Feb 16 2008, 01:24 PM)
sorry pal, to my understanding, the moment you upconvert (or upscale) to higher resolution means you adding extra pixels..

lower resulotion( mean bigger pixel,example=720p) ,higher resulotion (mean smaller pixel, example = 1080p)

QUOTE(ar188 @ Feb 18 2008, 01:07 PM)
huh? upconvert, shouldn't it be smaller image to bigger image ?

if "bigger pixel to small pixel" in your description above is downconvert mah..

QUOTE(htkaki @ Mar 21 2008, 01:07 PM)
I was closed to buying CHT-12R. But, then no stock. When it did arrive, the price ballooned to RM2,500. An increase of almost RM400!!!

Wow, power ..... aiming for CHT-12R pulak. When I look at the price, my face turned green liao.  tongue.gif  Honestly, CHT-10R is good enough for me, a big improvement over my Yamaha and Jamo sub. Now, still deciding whether to get RX-V1800 or RX-V3800. Headache.  doh.gif

onkyo tx-sr705 & tx-sr875 are sound different.....mine also prefer warm sound.... u get what kind of sound is depend how u setting, what the speaker cable, what brand u using....

QUOTE(sunauto @ Mar 23 2008, 12:43 AM)
Onkyo is under Hwee Seng now so spare parts and servicing will be a big problem because of Hwee Seng's past track record as a distributor. I have listened to Onkyo 705, sound a tad too bright for my taste, still prefer Yammy and Denon. You might have a different setup but Onkyo is not that compatible with my B&W speakers so I needed a more warm sounding AV amp.

hi,
as i know rx-v3800 the price range is around 875 oh? i not biased...but i just giving idea only.....yesterday i go audit pioneer lx-90...the sound even more amazing, but price? "heart attack"

QUOTE(sunauto @ Mar 25 2008, 02:30 PM)
Well, if you compare 875 to RX-V1800 / RX-V3800 then it's a little biased already b'coz both are from a different price range so it won't be fair comparison.

read this 875 review -

http://ultimateavmag.com/avreceivers/907onk875/index.html

anyone encounter this -
The Onkyo's only real design oddity is the way its video switching alters an input signal's white and black levels. It's annoying, but has no lasting negative effects once you readjust the settings on your display.

this issue had been solve since firmware version v1.04, n now the latest firmware version is v1.07 for 875 & v1.08 for 905.

yup, i own onkyo 875... n my firmware version is the latest one v1.07 & also DSP version also the lastest one...how to check the firmware version? just press & hold " display" button at the avr panel, not the remote then press" power" button, from there u can see the main firmware version, DSP version , hdmi & video version...for model 605,705 ,805 & 905, all can check through this way.. if ur 875 main firmware is below v1.07 & 905 is below v1.08, then u should upgrade the firmware.... n the most important thing, the onkyo just release the DSP firmware upgrade to solve the issue DTS-MA may damage ur speaker, so this new DSP firmware is to solve this issue..
