QUOTE(ar188 @ Feb 16 2008, 01:24 PM) sorry pal, to my understanding, the moment you upconvert (or upscale) to higher resolution means you adding extra pixels.. onkyo tx-sr705 & tx-sr875 are sound different.....mine also prefer warm sound.... u get what kind of sound is depend how u setting, what the speaker cable, what brand u using....
QUOTE(sunauto @ Mar 23 2008, 12:43 AM) Onkyo is under Hwee Seng now so spare parts and servicing will be a big problem because of Hwee Seng's past track record as a distributor. I have listened to Onkyo 705, sound a tad too bright for my taste, still prefer Yammy and Denon. You might have a different setup but Onkyo is not that compatible with my B&W speakers so I needed a more warm sounding AV amp. |

QUOTE(DigitalKL @ Apr 19 2008, 08:00 AM) read this 875 review - this issue had been solve since firmware version v1.04, n now the latest firmware version is v1.07 for 875 & v1.08 for 905.http://ultimateavmag.com/avreceivers/907onk875/index.html anyone encounter this - The Onkyo's only real design oddity is the way its video switching alters an input signal's white and black levels. It's annoying, but has no lasting negative effects once you readjust the settings on your display. |

yup, i own onkyo 875... n my firmware version is the latest one v1.07 & also DSP version also the lastest one...how to check the firmware version? just press & hold " display" button at the avr panel, not the remote then press" power" button, from there u can see the main firmware version, DSP version , hdmi & video version...for model 605,705 ,805 & 905, all can check through this way.. if ur 875 main firmware is below v1.07 & 905 is below v1.08, then u should upgrade the firmware.... n the most important thing, the onkyo just release the DSP firmware upgrade to solve the issue DTS-MA may damage ur speaker, so this new DSP firmware is to solve this issue..
