Cant expect AVR to sound as good as Stereo amp (given the same price) as the primary function is for movies.

QUOTE(JonC @ Apr 28 2008, 12:17 PM) Pure gold? You ask goldsmith to customise the rca female plug then you mod to the amp lor. Yes, JonC knew a lot of its history. Denon also does produce some very good hi-fi equipments too. But in movie, Denon is superior than Marantz. Marantz is a bit like a compromise of both world.Denon and Marantz is abang adik.... from same father. Denon more towards HT hence more dynamic while Marantz is better know for their hi-fi, hence as splee puts it... abit "lembik" lor |

I thought Hwee Seng is the distributor. CMY is only the dealer. Wonder Ah Wai can do the firmware upgrade or not.

I guess it may be due to its 'low' power output, which in turns a bit underpower to drive power hungry speakers ( maybe 6ohms with less than 87dB sensitivty)

I am not sure abt TX-DS777. But, SR705 is latest gen AVR which is able to decode the DTS HD MA and Dolby True HD. Unless, DS777 could accept Multi Channel PCM, then it 'might' be on par. However, I still believe SR705 has the better edge considering that you got it 3 years ago as 2nd hand. This AVR might only accept PCM stereo and does not have any HDMI input. Corret me if I am wrong.

QUOTE(moviebuff @ May 10 2008, 06:25 PM) You are correct it does not have HDMI input. It does have multi channel input but don't know it would accept multi channel pcm. Thinking of getting the tx-sr705 in the near future. What the best price in market right now? So, it is same as my AVR2802. It will only accept PCM stereo even there is multi channel input. PS3 could only output MPCM via HDMI. Correct me if I am wrong. |
