nod.gif yes you are right! There will definitely be a gap in the frequency range since u filter the already filtered <80Hz to your sub.
*
if set 60hz for subwoofer, then u have to set the front n other speaker also if u want to 60hz also to avoid the gapping lo

Apparently the lowest the amp can go is 80 so there no way to do it from the amp.
*

I'd checked some of the features of new AVRs. Apparently, they have this functions to select cut-off freq for each respective channels, which is good. This way, we could fully utilise the potential of the speakers and no 'missing link'.

Previously, it was only available in some hi-end AVRs.

yup...this what i mean

in this case no missing link, as between 60-80Hz, the speakers will handle it (or course from 60Hz to max freq response of the spkrs). If below 60Hz, the sub will kaotim. Correct me if I am wrong, splee (since I do not have new gen AVR)
*
yup... htkaki is right.. make sure ur front speaker can handle 60hz, if not...there still have a gap..

which onkyo avr u own? the firmware is upgrade by using rs232...the dsp is upgrade with optial port...dont mesh up.....currently firmware what version?

QUOTE(kyap @ Aug 24 2008, 10:58 PM)
Any Onkyo user here upgraded their firmware by themself? Coz currently whenever I turn on or off the PS3, got "Poof" sound from the center and is a abit annoying.

I had the firmware with me and tried to run the update via Xbox360 optical 1 output but it failed. Lucky didn't spoil my avr.

ur main firmware is "Main1.01/07618A", & ur dsp is "DSP1 8051 : 07601A,DSP2 8052 : 07518A,DSP3 8053 : 07518A", all is quite old version...u can only upgrade urself with the condition Bootloader version is v1.01... i think u better go hwee seng back to do the upgrade....btw...what ur avr problem?

QUOTE(kyap @ Aug 24 2008, 11:40 PM)
Oh sorry I think is DSP firmware paiseh blush.gif .

I own SR-TX705 and current DSP firmware as follows :
DSPS 8051 : 07601A
DSPS 8052 : 07518A
DSPS 8053 : 07518A

And I don't know which 1 is the main firmware:
VD: 3.58/07609A
HDMI1.00/07517A
Main1.01/07618A

I don't know will the upgrade solve my problem or not either main firmware or DSP firmware.
