What's the current best price for Onkyo SR605? HN at Pavilion quoted me RM2,599. Where else can you get a better price?

Thanx
*

Latest is 606.

erm... all new gen AVR and majority of those in 2006 or 2007 comes with auto-calibration system with the mic provided. It has improved over the years, being more accurate in its setting. However, SPL meter still holds the trump card.

I think only new gen AVR and those mid to hi-end have separate lfe cut-off for each channels.

u can set  at ur subwoofer there...mean set  80hz at avr, then set any value lower than 80hz at subwoofer lfe

I am not sure of new AVR since I do not have 1 blush.gif But for older gen, when you set it at 80Hz to cut off to your sub, all freq below this will be sent to sub. However, if you set your sub at 60Hz, anything between 61Hz to 80Hz will be lost since your other speakers are doing the job for >80Hz and your sub only works when it detects <60Hz. Correct me if I am wrong.

I'd checked some of the features of new AVRs. Apparently, they have this functions to select cut-off freq for each respective channels, which is good. This way, we could fully utilise the potential of the speakers and no 'missing link'.

Previously, it was only available in some hi-end AVRs.

in this case no missing link, as between 60-80Hz, the speakers will handle it (or course from 60Hz to max freq response of the spkrs). If below 60Hz, the sub will kaotim. Correct me if I am wrong, splee (since I do not have new gen AVR)

rx, hard to say lar...... maybe 3-4 years niah before they come out again with some more souped up sound format.  sweat.gif

Less likely (hopefully). I think there will be more channels instead of 7.1 in near future. Or maybe a new ver of HDMI to replace 1.3b (not 1.3a)

yep, the 663 is tempting.. but that cmy guy die die also onkyo.. (i have read the debate between onky 606 & yammy 663)
then i have this idea of starting with an entry av like yammy 463 (rm1300) or the onkyo 304 (rm1099 at senq) and
get better speakers so that future upgrade will be only the av. good idea? but the guy said that good speakers other
than the sats he reco will be around 5k. no such thing as adding a few hundred ringgit to get good speakers... hehh =,=
CMY push for Onkyo and Yammy coz they are selling this brand. tongue.gif He is right abt the spkrs though

Early adoptors are aplenty. But, IMHO the HD thingy still got a long way to go. I dont think there will be any new formats in near future as I mentioned in my earlier posting (judging by the previous trends).

Elite ppl? hmm.gif Must be aiman, mpyw, pratt, megatron, synco, splee, and so forth

Problem is Onkyo just had its special sale for their employees. Have to wait for at least 10 months, I guess.

Hi all,

I'm totally inexperienced when it comes to HT stuff as I'm more of a headfi and hi-fi kind of guy...
My friend is planning to get a Onkyo TX-SR830 which I have not read about in this thread as I normally see people discussing about 605,705 and 805 models.

So would appreciate some feedback on this Onkyo model and if there are better recommendations at this range...

Thanks

I guess it is an old model. Better off to buy a newer model if the price is not cheap.

aiman is right.

I have set 'both' for the setting instead of 'sub'. So, my front speakers and sub are doing the low freq job. It blends well.

Even with Onkyo SR-875, I doubt Astro PQ would look good.
