3DMark 06 Problem | EDIT | Processor?, Can anyone help?

When i try to run 3dmark 06 test, it'll go completely black....but if i leave it for xxx minutes, it'll show the result...
It goes black -> Scanning for bla bla bla -> black -> scan and repeat
Added on August 10, 2007, 4:43 pmi have Q6600, but i notice my core speed, sometimes 2.4ghz sometimes 1.6ghz =.= mostly 1.6

For the processor clock speed, it is due to the EIST function. Disable it in the bios -pWs-

u need to go into ur bios (aka setup while loading before windows) and look for the EIST....its not accessible thru windows.
go thru the menus in ur bios and look for Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology or something like that.

About EIST, its actually a GOOD thing to use. Reduces processor speed and voltage when processor has nothing to do (sit there goyang kaki  ) to make the procesor take up less power and produce less heat. But up to you. Overclockers usually disable it because the voltage changing might destabilise an overclocked system. Otherwise, for systems at stock speeds, leaving it on is a better idea to save on power and reduce fan noise.

that should be hardware info doesnt exist in 3d mark software.... edit the shortcut and put "3dmark06.exe -nosysteminfo"
