Even if we get transfers over the line, there is no squad integration time for the new arrivals with the first game next week. Bad transfer management track record continues.

The Wales star looks set for a reunion

Gareth Bale has sealed a return to Tottenham from Real Madrid, claims the Daily Mail.

The Wales attacker has agreed to return to Spurs on a season-long loan worth more than £13 million (€14m/$16m) with Los Blancos set to finance some of the move.

An official announcement is expected soon with no Tottenham player to depart the club as part of the deal following reports Dele Alli could be heading to the Santiago Bernabeu.

hi guys.. haven't been engaging much with u all.. been drowning in the ineptitude of our transfer business..

is this the worst summer transfer window u ever experienced? technically, i understand we still have until Oct 5 before the window shut..

but season start this week and i opined we are still so not ready for this saturday.. we're heading into the new season essentially with the same squad as the last season.. looking at leeds last week, crystal palace can easily come and cause us problems
*
I would say almost every transfer window is about the same level of ineptness from our negotiation team.
From back in 2013 when Moyes took over, we didn't buy Fellaini for cheaper on an active clause. Chased other targets until that clause expired, then paid over the odds for Fellaini.

fitness issue also, we only have one friendly before EPL starts... lol... but with midfield well stocked, who dominate the midfield can win a game
*
Our midfield issue is quality depth.
Once you rest our first 3, our next 3 is a significant drop in terms of midfield quality. Look at Perreira - Lingard in the Villa game.

yea.. it's been bad for 7 years and still too stubborn to get in a director of football.. pretty sure that'll help a lot on the negotiation part

but then it'll ultimately come down to the glazers.. if they don't want to fork out the money, no matter how furious we fans are, no one can do anything also
*
It is this way because there is no accountability mechanism to failed transfers.
Even buying late has a performance impact as the signing takes time ot integrate into the squad, made worse if the season is already underway.

Any performance impact, the blame lies with the manager. So end of the day, the manager has to pay the price of Woodward's ineptness.
Mourinho said it during his time with us.

Man Utd transfer is worse than Everton. Wtf is the board doing still hiring Ed to do the job?
*
Please do not compare us with Everton.
Everton did very well with their transfers, we are not deserving to be mentioned in the same breath transfer-wise.

So we missed out on Thiago for 26M to Pool.
We missed out of Bale and Regulion to Spurs.
We still haven't got Sancho.
Grealish signed a new contract with Villa.
We only got VDB because of our Dutch friends helping us out. I'm not giving this to Woodward.

Is there any PL club that is having a worse transfer result than us right now?

yes hopefully..

as for the negotiation part, it's getting clearer that they want to save a few million quid here and there isn't it? from a business standpoint, there's nothing wrong with that though.. every business owner wants to make money.. but too bad we're a football club.. success on the pitch require successive investment as well

From the way the Glazers and Woodward are running it, we are a business first.
Marketing brand second.
Football club third.

News going round we might be buying from Watford instead of Dortmund.

Man Utd join race for Sarr

The Red Devils have found a new target

Manchester United are looking at signing Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, reports the Independent.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the 22-year-old but the Red Devils are in a much better position to sign him as they fail to strike a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

United have made initial contact with Watford about a possible deal for Sarr.

wont mind him. but should have gone for him earlier... instead of going sancho but not willing to pay.
*
Yeah. Our timing just stinks of bad planning.
Watford has already started the season and will be charging a premium for the risk of losing a player at this stage with no time to buy a replacement.

I remember some pitchside reporter once said on Astro, "Kayu is the best in the world in making money".

That is very true.
Commercially, his numbers are a huge success to the club. The Glazers specifically.

totally feel ur frustration..

we have a match tonight.. hopefully can have a result that will make us all feel a bit better for a few hours
*
Yes, our entire frame of mind will rest on the result of our uupcoming game. With the negativity surrounding transfers.
If we get a result, the ipression will be we have a good squad but lacking a bit of depth for the later half of the season.
But if we don't get a result, expect the pitchforks to come out. And don't rule out another airplane banner about Woodward.

well maybe it's not about negotiation skill. as a forumer pointed few weeks ago, maybe the agenda behind is just to keep ucl qualification for maximise profit. if out of ucl, pump money again.

lively doesnt mean he did his job as a left back

I think Shaw did ok to be fair. He had an error which lead to the first goal in tracking runners, but we have to give half the blame to Lidnelof on this one as he should've stopped the cross in the first place.
Our main issue is with both Lindelof and Maguire. Lindelof requires no description from me. Maguire was horrendous, giving the ball away cheaply on a few occasions.

blanket statement that Jose's transfers are rubbish is too harsh.
Jose did won us 2 + 1 trophies with his transfers.

last 2 seasons Lindeloft was doing alright, i feel he deep dived after Maguire joined us
*
Lindelof's dip post Maguire is a product of them playing similar defensive styles.
Both would be more comfortable playing alongside a faster defender who engages forwards so they can cover and mop up. Play both together, and they don't complement each other. It is like instead of Ferdinand-Vidic, you go for Ferdinand-Ferdinand.

We needed a pacey, left footed central defender. And none has arrived.
Surprised to see Luke Shaw putting out a statement about needing reinforcements today. If even the players themselves are saying it, the situation has gone Defcon 4.
