To all Sifus out there,

My friend just bought a Sony DCR-HC28 DV Camera. He recorded some videos from his company family day. He wants to transfer the videos to more common media, such as DVD, VHS Tape. But the thing is he doesn't have a VCR at home. The only option left is to transfer the video to the PC, and then burn it to DVD. He got a laptop with a built-in IEEE 1394 port.

So, how does one transfer videos to the PC from a DV camera via the IEEE 1394 port? Any special software?

Thanks.

Somehow, I got the DV camera and firewire cable with me now. I plugged in the cable to the PC and the camera, but nothing happened. (I was expecting something like "New Hardware Detected" kind of message to popup.)

I'm so clueless. What should I do then? No driver was provided with the DV.
