Dear all,
I'm building a new rig but I'm thinking of reusing the SSD which is the C: drive of my existing desktop, without any clean Windows 10 installation.
I'm hoping it could be like the case when I replaced my dead mobo in existing desktop - everything remained as it was after the mobo replacement.
Will the same be possible if i change to new rig?
Existing rig is Intel i5, new rig is AMD Ryzen. Windows 10 has been linked to Microsoft account.
If it's not possible, I'll need to buy a new SSD because I cannot afford too much downtime of existing machine.
There's a possibility that it won't work when changing from Intel to AMD. And if it works, Windows will spent a long time reinstalling the drivers first without you being able to use it. That was the case a few years ago. This also assumes that your Windows are able to use generic drivers for the hardware in the new rig. And if you witch back to the Intel rig, it will still do the same process.I'm building a new rig but I'm thinking of reusing the SSD which is the C: drive of my existing desktop, without any clean Windows 10 installation.
