New 2021 Peugeot 3008 revealed: price, specs and release date

- New grille design
- Revised headlights
- Upgraded interior tech
- Extra safety features
- Should cost from £30,000
- On sale in late 2020
The Peugeot 3008 was already one of the most eye-catching SUVs around, but Peugeot’s made a few changes for 2021 to try and tempt buyers away from the likes of the VW Tiguan, Skoda Karoq and Nissan Qashqai.

The old Peugeot 3008 had a fairly conventional front grille, but this new car gets a sweeping array of square chrome trim that stretches from one headlight to the other. There’s also a pair of new vertical daytime running lights – just like the ones on the new Peugeot 2008 – and a new front bumper with revised black inserts and a shiny chrome bar instead of the old car’s contrasting silver trim.

This new car looks pretty much the same as the outgoing model from the side, besides some new alloy wheel designs, and Peugeot hasn’t changed much at the rear. The brake lights get the same claw-effect design as in the old car, albeit with new full-LED technology, and you’ll spot a set of familiar fake exhaust trims on GT models.

The outgoing Peugeot 3008 had one of the most interesting-looking interiors of any SUV, and thankfully the same holds true for this new model. You get the same 12.3-inch digital driver’s display as before, but Peugeot’s upped the size of the central touchscreen from eight to 10 inches in all but entry-level Active models.

The swoopy dashboard with polished metal piano-style switches has been carried over unchanged, along with the small low-slung steering wheel. You can choose from a range of new interior trims for the latest car, including red Nappa leather or black suede-like Alcantara for the seats, and lime-wood inserts with chrome details for the doors in GT models.

Peugeot hasn’t drastically changed the 3008’s engine lineup so you’ll be able to get the new car with two petrol engines, one diesel engine or as one of two plug-in hybrid models.
The petrol engines on offer are a 130hp 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine and a 180hp 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine. The former can be had with a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic. The 180hp versions get an automatic ‘box as standard.
The diesel option is a 130hp 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine – the new 3008 won’t be available with the old car’s 180hp 2.0-litre diesel engine.
