Your EPP 1.8k will be stretched out for how many months? Let's say 6 months, then only 300 will be charged in your February statement, so you cannot qualify for RM50 in March statement.

If you want to use EPP for 6 month, you need about 8.5k or something (do calculations yourself based on your actual spend amount) so that the 6 month amount is >1.4k. Then you spend 1,666.67 plus the monthly amount will be >3050 and you can get RM50 per month.

I think most of us who do this way just use balance transfer, is easier.

Oh balance transfer is consider spend???
1st ever know it is calculated.
Anyway ewallet cash back max is RM1K = RM30
if EPP/balance transfer is 1.4K
mean RM600 must be either online transaction/ecommerce or auto billing.

So total RM3000 correct me if im wrong.

lol.gif balance transfer is not considered as spend but the cash back cap never was based on spending, it's the opening statement 'balance'
so any outstanding would contribute to that, including BT and FPP; any payment/cash back would reduce that

the standard 0% campaign is usually 12 months, except birthday month
so u would need to take up about RM 16,800 in order to be charged RM 1,400 monthly
and RM 667 on online transaction/ecommerce or auto billing to max the RM 50 cash back, assuming RM1k on ewallet

First month, you need to spend RM630 (not RM600) on anything (not limited to online / auto billing)
So RM3030 - CB RM30 = RM3000 statement balance.

Because of previous statement balance>RM3000,
You need to spend RM1667 on online / auto billing
So your new statement balance
RM3067 - CB RM50 = RM3017 (>RM3000 fulfilled for next cycle)

First Month (no previous month balance)
RM1000*3% - RM30 cashback (capped)
RM2000 - spend on anything. one of it is balance transfer.
Total balance for First Month = RM1000 + RM2000 = RM3000

Second Month (previous month balance RM3000, so eligible for max RM50 cb)
RM1667*3%=RM50 cashback (capped)
RM3000-RM1667= RM1333 - spend on anything. one of it is balance transfer.
Total balance for Second Month = RM1667+RM1333 = RM3000

Do note that for ewallet reload, maximum CB is RM30. So max to spend on ewallet is RM1000. Remaining balance, you can spend on other online or auto billing.

Revised second month scenario with ewallet:
Second Month (previous month balance RM3000, so eligible for max RM50 cb)
(RM1000 (ewallet)*3% = RM30) + (RM667 (online/autobilling)*3% = RM20) =RM50 cashback (capped)
RM3000-RM1667= RM1333 - spend on anything. one of it is balance transfer.
Total balance for Second Month = RM1667+RM1333 = RM3000

make sure you spend rm3050 every month (include BT amount).

of the 3050, at least 1667 needed to be online (non-wallet) or autodebit (insurance ok)

statement month ya.

BT amount will enter the statement on the last day of the statement month (ie on statement date itself for that statement month).

best possible (optimized) case is monthly BT amount >= 1383
online non-ewallet / autodebit spending = 1667

effectively you spend rm1667 to get rm50.

watch out for the last installment of BT (will state "12/12" in the line detail). then u do balance transfer again next year. affin normally have 0% BT one time a year for existing customer.

Hi all sifus, have read throught the topic and have a few questions to ask

I am considering to get his card for the CB benefits.
I currently have a Maybank 2 Plat cards (Amex/Visa). Every month already maxing out on the 5% cashback on AMEX.
However i have alot of other expenses that are done on my VISA that i dont get any cashback at all (eg: Insurance autobill, online spending, retail etc), which may amount up to RM2k sometimes.

By signing up this card, wish to use the Affin Duo Visa to put all my autobill insurance and other expenses that AMEX dont accept here to get some Cashback, which amounts to about RM 1-2k/month.

So if i get this card, what i plan to do is sign up for a balance transfer of RM 1k/month(12k/year) from my AMEX card to get RM 3k total spending on the visa card to maximize the cashback to RM50.
so with 2 credit cards i can get get cashback of:
AMEX: rm50
affin visa: rm50

Is this the best way to maximize?

I am not sure how your AMEX card balance transfer can contribute to your visa card spending, however affin balance transfer will do, just make sure that the spending is RM3050, after RM50 cash back you can get RM3000 statement balance.

just wondering if your insurance and other expenses that are eligible for Affin CB exceeds RM 1.6k?
your plan sounds good, since your amex spending would have exceeded RM1k
consolidating the payment allows you to meet the Affin Duo statement balance requirement

Im not sure how this balance transfer thing works, very new to me? care to explain a little bit?
From what i understand by reading through this topic, basically any other credit card charges are so called "transferred" in the way of an advanced payment to that credit card. Am i right

Example:
If i take a balance transfer of RM12k/year from my AMEX maybank card, the affin duo VISA will be charged RM1k per month for the AMEX card.
Then i just need to spend additional RM2k to reach a total of 3K so that my next month statement will have an opening statement amount of RM3k to be eligible for the RM 50 cashback

Is this example correct?

Also, is there any additional charges for signing up for balance transfer? read the product description, says there a one time % fee. Wouldnt that offset the cashback earned?

Yes, those other expenses would definately exceed RM 1.6k spending, but maybe might consider to increase the balance transfer amount to ensure can reach RM 3k total

Yes, your affin duo statement (make sure you apply from visa not master) will have an additional line item every month for the balance transfer. In your example case, RM1k.

So you need to spend RM2050 (because remember, you will get cashback from that spend of up to RM50).

If you spend RM2050 and get (let's say) RM30 cashback, your statement will be RM2970 and you won't be eligible for RM50 cashback the next month.

tl;dr - Balance transfer amount + spending should be >= RM3050 every month.

Normally you should only apply balance transfer when there's 0% promo. What you're looking for is 0% interest AND 0% upfront (some banks only 0% for one and not the other). Generally affin bank promos are 0% for both so we just whack as much as our credit limit will allow.

May i ask.
1. To get annual fee waiver, both card require swipe 12 times or either 1 card will do?
2. If i only have auto billing for insurance eg. 3k per month. Will i get the max cash back of rm50?
3. Previous balance mean statement amount. I wait statement amount shown and pay before due date is entitle for cash back? Or it must be outstanding balance that charge interest?

1. Each card need 12 swipes for their own annual fee waiver
2. 3k not enough, need 3050 (because the statement is spend - cashback)
3. Yes once statement generated then that's the amount used. Just remember not to pay before statement generated. If you spent RM10,000 but pay it all off before statement generated, your statement amount still RM0.

Oh, so the balance transfer actually count into the "Cash back entitlement quota" eh ?

Meaning to say my last spending to meet statement amount will be :

Last Spending = RM3,050 minus BT instalment* amount minus cashback amount

* BT instalment amount above = BT divided by 12
