Im not sure how this balance transfer thing works, very new to me? care to explain a little bit?
From what i understand by reading through this topic, basically any other credit card charges are so called "transferred" in the way of an advanced payment to that credit card. Am i right
Example:
If i take a balance transfer of RM12k/year from my AMEX maybank card, the affin duo VISA will be charged RM1k per month for the AMEX card.
Then i just need to spend additional RM2k to reach a total of 3K so that my next month statement will have an opening statement amount of RM3k to be eligible for the RM 50 cashback
Is this example correct?
Yes, your affin duo statement (make sure you apply from visa not master) will have an additional line item every month for the balance transfer. In your example case, RM1k.
So you need to spend RM2050 (because remember, you will get cashback from that spend of up to RM50).
If you spend RM2050 and get (let's say) RM30 cashback, your statement will be RM2970 and you won't be eligible for RM50 cashback the next month.
tl;dr - Balance transfer amount + spending should be >= RM3050 every month.

Also, is there any additional charges for signing up for balance transfer? read the product description, says there a one time % fee. Wouldnt that offset the cashback earned?
Yes, those other expenses would definately exceed RM 1.6k spending, but maybe might consider to increase the balance transfer amount to ensure can reach RM 3k total
Normally you should only apply balance transfer when there's 0% promo. What you're looking for is 0% interest AND 0% upfront (some banks only 0% for one and not the other). Generally affin bank promos are 0% for both so we just whack as much as our credit limit will allow.
