Now i subscribe unifi 100mb RM129 per month.

Just now i read one ada by maxis Fibre. The package is 30mb + free 60 channels astro only RM99 per month.

Really tempting.

But i want to know first is there much different on speed between 30mb and 100mb?

I downgraded to unifi 30mbps, browsing, youtube 4k, streaming IPTV no difference between 100bmps and 30mbps

If you are a single user there is not much difference if you consume media only by yourself. If you have 2-3 person then there would be lags. If you wifi, won't be much different. Most wifi still on B/G/N standards.

If you do movie downloads or anything that does large volume of data downloads like HD movies or stream HD content, then 100mbps does make a difference.

30mbps enough already if usual stuff like social media and streaming. If hardcore torrent, always not enough no matter how many Mbps.

To be honest there is no different at all for normal casual user. You can only see the difference when you download something like games or its patch. It will download faster, other than that, it pretty much the same.

To answer your question, yes u will notice the difference when u download something. With 3 users altogether best to have 100mb as reserve.

If your house has light users. Normal phone youtube and netflix and no downloading is okay for 30mbps. Unless you use 4k video all d time and also sharing with others then you need 100mbps. I used to use 30mbps for 2 years fine, then more people move in the house, it no longer enough because i stream 4k on my tv all d time. (Using alone 30mbps is enough though).

Maxis comes with astro channels?

I'm using rm99 100mbps. No channels. Sometimes don't know what to watch.

For me heavy user, the upgrade from 30mbps to 50mbps was very big

if u use the internet just for browsing and streaming videos, u wont feel any much difference given that the video quality is SD to 720p. 1080p above i think will buffer.

if u use for download then u will feel the most difference between the two speeds.

to give u perspective, for a 10GB file download, 100mbps will take around 14 mins. meanwhile for 30mbps will take around 45 mins.

My 500mbps unifi also nvr run 500mbps after 1st month of “upgrade”...technicians come and go, change modem+router yet after a month or two speed will go down to about 2~300mbps...then they will start to question whether your device can support la, position of router la, house fengshui la, got interference from other devices la...etc

But I do experience a difference la every time unifi “upgrade” speed from 5 to 50 to 500mbps...now when hosting gatherings at home no issues on internet connectivity...and youtube can 4k without buffer...

[just stick to the 100 , 30 will be too slow especially if you have many users and in the near future when more Iot devices becomes available. I am using 100 unifi too. its sufficient

1. steam update. game update is soooo much faster with 100mb. Expecially whey someone waiting for you to join them in game.
2. Download of video, media, 4k is soooo much faster, this also dependent on the Host server as well. but when it can. it will go max speed. 1 4k video few minutes settle.
3. windows update also faster... the download time for win10 always the slowest... with 100mb is much faster ... this is from my own feeling ...

4. gaming wise not much difference, all depends on the ping u get... 30mb or 100mb the ping usually the same if all is from the same location.

Tips: if u torrant or something like that, do not set auto.. else 100mb also fully taken by that app...

5. 100mb need better router to reach the max speed... can google for his.

100Mbps if you need faster download speed. Big chunk download.

I think sweet spot should be 300mbps. I am not bias as I use higher speed than this.

300mbps bcoz that's the normal speed that any cheap wifi router can get via wifi. If got few 4k tv & few users or PS4, 100mbps may not enough. Most devices especially mobile device like phone, tablet also cap at 300mbps.

It not use mu-mimo device or ax wifi, 500/800/1000mbps almost make no different.

Forgot to mention its depends on your area also. Its actually shared hence come the ‘best effort’ term. For company different. They use ‘dedicated’ line and not shared.

the cheapest if your area have unifi and maxis, should be the 30Mbps plan.

if you are using wireless all the time, better just stick with 300Mbps plan and below.Because that's the average wireless AC and AC devices speed these days.

u can only hav 1 user streaming online and other 2 users merely browsing fb saja.

With 100mbps, i can stream movies on other two devices, play MMORPG on a PC. Everything seems ok.
300mbps may sound sweet but it's a lot of wasteful money unless you have 6-10 family members at home. Otherwise any normal households, 100mbps is more than enough.

depends on your Wifi type and if you have it your PC/console LAN. Also your area average connectivity good or not. For me 8/100/300Mbps doesn't seems much different to me cause on 2.4Ghz but higher speed is much better cause can max out speed. If you on 5Ghz then you can feel the speed. I have both so I know the feel.

Yes different but you will not feel it lo at home. If just 1-4 users speed 30mbps already enough.

PH 1080p cannot stream with 30mbps

100Mb, download speed can get up to 13MB, 200gb file settled around 8hours. If 30Mb, maybe up to 3.X MB download speed, hence 200gb, maybe 24hour?.

u just can easyly upgrade later if want more speed.

It depends on how many users there are and what they are using it for.

If there is only one user, 30 Mbps should be more than enough.

If there are >3 users, all streaming HD videos at the same time, you may need 100 MBps or more.

currently subscribe to Unifi 30Mbps with 4 user in home, it is very sufficient for watching youtube(not 4k), social media and gaming online. but will notice the different once download game from Steam.

If you have low speed line, then yes. A good router will manage traffic the best compared to stock ISP router. Mainly the damn processor is the one that does this.

Even if u have only 4 family member c s per household, 100mbps may not enough. U need about 300mbps as seet spot. Why?

MMORPG games, mobile legend etc no need high speed, it just need good latency. 3Mbps also can play. So rule out that.

Each 4k/HDR stream already 15-20mbps. If few smart tv, it will double.
PS4 download games also need some mbps same like 4k.
If use wireless cctv- it will eat some mbps too.
Then few phone, PC, tablet etc.
Current new normal meeting using webex etc also need data.

Normal modern urban household may need more than 100mbps. 300mbps
There is a reason why cheap router & most devices speed is about 300mbps.

looking at number alone, its 3x, but alot of time, number like that doesnt mean anything, it really depends on what you are using it for.

ie

if you mainly using it to download big files, then the number matters, it cut down your download time to 33%

if you use it to browse simple webpage, its not going to be matter even its 3 times faster loading like 0.33 second vs 0.31 second (assuming 0.3 second is the bottleneck of speed of light or the fiber cable, even you go 1 billion times faster, you cannot reduce this 0.3 second until we human figure out how to beat speed of light).

then gaming, i havent seen any game need that much bandwidth YET, but it might exists soon after 5g widespread, but if you do stream your game(let other watch), then its another story, you will need high bandwidth for real time streaming, 1080p60 require like 10mbps, 1440p60 require 20mbps, to do 4kp60, you will need like 50mbps. technically more will be better as the streaming wont lag your game(if your game also required internet, playing game while internet is bz will lag)

lastly watching youtube 4K p60 required upto 50mbps, but if you only have fullhd monitor, forget it.

all calculation assume you are the only user using the line, if you have few other ppl that might use the line, do consider them.

Normal daily usage no difference. However, if you download game a lot from Steam, Origin, Epic, Uplay then there are a huge different between them. 30Mbps will take ages to download a 100GB file.

no really, what u really wanna ask?

Do you download PS4 games 24 hours a day? Nope.
Wireless CCTV doesn't each so much mbps. Quite negligible.
The only issue i see is the streaming services, for 4K streaming you need at least 25~30mbps. But you can easily download the shows first while you sleep. Don't tell me there are 4 tvs streaming 4K concurrently.
Most households don't spend so much time at home during the noon and most internet provider has the most stable and fastest speed during that time.
Current new normal - let's use Google Meet as basis, it only needs about 3~4 mbps for meeting up to 6 people.
So yeah, if your household is like less than 5~4 people. 100mbps is more than enough for an ordinary family.
Unless the 4 of you are tech-crazy, uploading twitch, uploading youtube etc etc. That's a different story.

But of course, if you have extra money to splurge, more is better right? For any other ordinary family, you don't really need to spend more than for something that you might not utilize fully.

I am telling about sweet point where optimum most wireless devices can get (point where max most device speed=ISP internet speed). It should be around 300mbps.
Of course U can use 30mbps or 100mbps, but u will not use it with full potential.
Netflix already suggest that u need 25mbps for 4k/HDR. If normal 4 person per family. There also 2 smart Tv per family. This already consume 50mbps.
If u have other smart device CCTV, smart phone, gaming; 100mbps surely will get bottleneck.

In 2019, even if we get average of 11mbps per mobile device, most Malaysian user also not satisfied. Most operator around the world push it to be more 20mbps per device. If 4 person, then u need about 80mbps.
Yes u can stream online or meeting with Standard definition video. However, the world have move forward, 4K quality is new normal.

Maxis fibre? Dont change, the last time I used Maxis fibre the ping was like in thousands, since they are sharing with Astro the streaming will be extremly unstable, gaming can be unplaybale at times due to high ping
