Hey all
I’m living in landed house , just moved in few months ago..corner lot house.

Issue I have is my room is super hot
Unless I open aircon but it’s too expensive to open everyday

I also dislike opening windows because (no privacy, a lot of insects coming in, I’m a music lover, sometimes I wanna use speaker fully)

It’s been 3months but it is so hot compared to previous home

I have use 2 fan (ceiling and tower fan) and It still hot as hell
Doing work also can get sweaty

But room beside me is still acceptable, not that hot
I have tried use dehumidifier cheap rm30..not working it seems

Any idea?

Agree
No amount of black curtain n tint can help too as the wall absorbing heat and releasing it back slowly inside... literally being roasted
Just touch the wall can feel the heat.
Roof also might not insulated well hence hot air trapped inside

I think this is a good suggestion.
Easiest ones would be the bamboo shoots. The shades from trees can naturally cool your indoor.

You have to get rid of the hot air trapped between the roof and ceiling.

1 install wind turbine on roof., and
2 install ceiling exhaust fan

if you want free aircon, you need to take control of natural ventilation and air flow, you need to manipulate your house so that there is a natural gradient that make air flow from one side of your house to the other side. normally hot air rise, so you make vent where there is share and cooler temp, and then you open vent on the other side where the hot air can escape. with this method you will create a temperature gradient and air will flow.

i know this because the samoan tribe has been using this method for millenia

If no money, best you can do is remove unwanted furniture in the room to improve ventilation.
Try to open your windows. You can install mosquito nets to prevent insects from coming in.
If you have money, you can tint your window with a privacy film to reflect heat and so people cannot look in.

If your wall is facing the sun during evening, try putting netting outside your house. Most of the hot air is in your ceiling. Can also put exhaust fan at your ceiling.Attached ImageAttached Image

I’m using a dark coloured curtain and it’s really thick to prevent light coming in
Is there any other beside the windows , I totally don’t want windows to open, beside the insects , I don’t want any sun light at all

And I tried open windows before, it did help but still not much

Also my room have so many things like 2tv, 2 monitor, pc, most of it are electronic stuff
Is it contribute more heat? But never on 24hrs

Switch on the air-con. Set the temp to 25C. Electronic equipment will create heat especially in a closed room.

Use blackout curtains.
Install ventilation fan, facing out (draw air from your room towards outside to remove heat).
Switch to low heat lightbulbs.
Clean your fans regularly, invest in quality fans.
Make sure fabrics on bedsheets are cooling type.

Already have curtain.
Don't want on aircon.
Don't want ventilate room.
Room many electronics generating heat.

Best is to move your room to cold country. Or underground.

Either ventilate, or use aircon. Or you renovate your house like Malay kampung house, but still need to open window for full cooling effect.

Buy dry ice, place under the fan. Works fantastically well. Alternatively. You can buy the table fan and place your dry ice in front of the fan.

Sadly aircon is the only way to have both privacy and cool environment.

Without aircon, you need ventilation fan to draw in cool air from somewhere else and expel out the hot air.

If you draw air from windows in your room, your loud speaker will leak out. If you draw air from windows in another room through your door, you need a strong ventilation fan with high cfm. Your speaker will disturb your family. You’ll lose privacy in both scenarios.

Between your roof and room plaster ceiling got pull rockwool or not? Conlanfirm don't have.

What about ventilation of room? Conlanfirm close everything because want to tfk and give excuse "doing work".

When turn on AC, do you leave the ceiling fan turned on as well? Most likely yes, because somehow you think 2 fans is better than 1 right?

I have a very warm and stuffy room. So warm initially I prefer to sleep in the living room. But found the trick.

Blast your fan to fan away those hot air. Once your roon feels cool then keep having the fan on (lowest speed fan will do), just to ensure your room is cool. To save electricity, you can turn it off when you're not around but turn the fan back 3-4 hours before you sleep. And the fan should be on throughout the night, blowing at you. So you get cool air.

It works with mine, zero AC needed.

Yes it helps. The point is to expel heat out of the house. The wall absorbs heats during the day n release heat into the house at night. Whats inside is trapped n it needs to b expelled.

The same for attic. I suggest the traditional turbine bcos it will continue to function even at night due to wind. Solar ventilation, although more powerful, only works during the day. And the big one is more effective but expensive
