Anyone added water before? A friend of mine also asked me to add water to extend the battery life. Is this true? Any experience?

I top up my maintenance free battery with battery water every 2 years. The cell caps are hidden under the sticker. Going on 8 years now with the oldest battery.

This Panasonic maintenance free battery has an indicator to add water. The opening screw is under the sticker.

Then why not buy the non-maintenance free version then? It's cheaper and usually longer lasting than maintenance free batteries.

My maintenance free batteries usually last about 1 year, almost to the dot actually (but usually after warranty), and cannot be revived. The regular batteries, you just top up battery water once in a while (even if you forget, once the battery cannot crank the car due to water level in the battery too low, a water top up will usually be able to start the car d).

Last much longer, and cheaper to boot. I say bye bye to maintenance free batteries except for cars still under warranty.
