Dear all, just a quick one..

I am currently going to book a unit to rent. This is my first time renting.

When I first contacted Agent A contact I saw online, he passed Agent B contact to me.. And I have been liasing with Agent B all the way till now.

Agent B gave me a different bank account name (not the property company name) for deposit booking fee..

When asked, was told it is for them to reduce tax..

Do you think this is legit and safe? I am supposed to bank in latest by today, handover tomorrow.

Answer is no.

Ask for a official receipt stating that payment from you to that bank is for rental of XX unit

You can report the agent to his Agency & the LPPEH board

What he is doing is unethical

Actually I dont mind if he is doing any 'side' thing.. I won't report him.

I just want to make sure I'm not going to be scammed. Lol

Thank you so much, everyone.. 🙏🙏 I think managed to settle. Will be meeting up straight tomorrow, bank in on the spot when signing tenancy agreement, document with agent and owner, right before handover keys on the spot.. 🙌
