need passport. Better to drive there.
Taxis to and from Thailand Malaysia border expensive (200 baht for 10 minutes ride) and its hard to find buses back to KL.
Makan I suggest just walk around the market area and see what people are eating and try it. Found some good eats that way.
Famous place is the dim sum shop at the clock tower but its always crowded.

Sightseeing : nothing much, hot spring park and communist tunnel/museum is all.
Shopping : also nothing. just grab some thai snacks home.
Nightlife : just go to jockey club and see your typical nekkid thai ger dancing. If you want to 'pau' girl back to hotel very easy, many uncles to show you where/how. If thats your thing.

not much sight seeing.
unless you have not been to hot spring before. that is 25min drive from betong
there is an old tunnel you can visit also from war time a bit further north from the hot spring

Tai See Hee Dim Sum (breakfast)
Mookrata Ninnaam BBQ buffet shop (dinner)
Bai Fern Seafood (dinner)
7-11/Family Mart (24/7 light snacks/meals)


Other attractions cannot share info, don't want market to be spoilt.
