Why would telcos invest and improve the soon outdated 4G network, when the whole world is moving to 5G?
I can understand the reluctance to improve 4G network, as they would rather use the money to invest in technology that would last 10 years, that is 5G. This post has been edited by Chrono-Trigger: Dec 15 2021, 09:43 AM |

QUOTE(MyProLife @ Dec 15 2021, 10:36 AM) DNB itself is a mistake TBH The idea behind the DNB is good.DNB monopoly will end up like TM HSBB project about a decade ago. You already know how HSBB ends up DNB also negates the investment of major telcos in 5g infra these two years (they even boost about their network being "5g ready" lol) Private telcos are driven by commercial and profit interests. They would invest in areas that give them the good Return of investment (ROI), that would mean Klang valley and the state capitals in malaysia. And places like East Malaysia (oops called Borneo States now), and East Coast will be underinvested. I come from low yield area , and i can tell you, some telcos never bother to upgrade the network here for years due to perceived low base users and low ROI. DNB is to get all the local telcos to combine their resources for fast role out nationwide. Instead of , 5 telcos building 5G network in same city, why not assign 5 of them to build it in 5 different cities, and let them share their network? 4G rollout left to private. 5 years now coverage still very poor at certain area. Big telcos only think of profit and they would underinvest in low yield area.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Jan 8 2022, 08:24 PM) Yes. That's why if all left to private sector, they would only concentrate on high return areas. So basically... Planning failure... Didn't see properly that many places have weak 4G signal issues... And congestion too... That's why slow speed too.... need to have some form of regulatory control of role out, which the government is trying to do with 5G |

QUOTE(kit2 @ Jan 8 2022, 10:03 PM) i thought the main plan is to refarm 3G for 5G? Left to private , how many years 4G still so slow ?some people say monopoly is to lower cost, enable faster deployment and ultimately benefit the rakyat. I remember I went Thailand 10 years ago , 3g just started 4 g not yet. But few years ago , 4G speed like so fast minimal 100mbps |
