Hi all,

I am planning to get a laptop for my gf and her primary usage would be internet browsing and probably netflix only and I have been reading reviews about Acer Swift 3 that is using AMD Ryzer processor.

Based on your experience, is this a good buy?

https://shopee.com.my/Acer-Swift-3-SF314-42...8870.6633478154

I actually wanted to get the Swift 3 (SF314-42-R4KU) which has higher 16GB memory but it is not available anywhere, my only concern is that the 8GB memory model is soldered on and it is not upgradable anymore, but with the 512GB NVMe SSD, that should help to offset the 8GB memory concern no?

Looking forward to your feedback!

decent budget option

8GB RAM is fine if you don't do heavy multitasking

The only thing I noticed is that she likes to open huge amount of tabs in the browser to the point where I couldn't even see the tabs anymore blink.gif

Anyway, is there a better option than this? If not, I'll just consider this laptop.

Thanks for your reply bro.

Bought it for my wife. She loved it so much. The laptop is thin and very portable. I think it worth the price even at RM 2.8k.

For ryzen 7 unit, I think it's just temporarily out of stock. ryzen 5 was also OOS last month and now they restock back and mark up the price. Ryzen 5 unit was only 2.5k when I bought it in Lazada in July. Retail price was only RM2599. It comes with the microsoft office licence also.

How is the Ryzen 5 performance? Can the laptop work smoothly even with 8GB? Is there any other color choices other than the silver?

Good product. Recommended by my colleague who bought the exact same model for his wife. His wife loves it so much! Had to get a laptop due to the pandemic working from home as a university teacher.

got it when it was RM2549 in July 2020, its purple with 4500u and 8gb RAM

it can play old games like Hitman, Tomb Raider, Alien Isolation fine at 720p or above

im using it as my office workstation connected to a monitor

runs cool too

i think it will be more than adequate for your GF intended usage

Got it for my GF recently too, the Swift 3. She is quite satisfied for her office editing and data entry work plus gaming. It's pretty affordable for work/play setups that aren't too graphically intensive. Happy GF = Happy me thumbup.gif

Hey bro, what model you got?
I also bought a swift 3 (11th gen i5) and i found the display temperature is sooooo warm!

When i connect to external display, i open a notepad and drag between built in & external display, i can obviously see the notepad in built in display is yellowish and dull in color....
Have you feel the same??

Havent got a chance to walk in any SC amid this MCO

yo, actually u can try to email their customer care team about this issue. Based on my experience, they are quite helpful and responsive, and probably includes on-site tech support as well, so they come to u instead of u having to travel there. Better to #stayhome and #staysafe right? Haha

Gosh that sux. Mine is i5 too. Glad hers are fine. Yah, I agree with uskimaski. You can email Acer support for help. They are quite responsive in my past experience.

All the best in solving the issue asap! smile.gif
