Thanks for the advice. We have enough money for wedding. It is just emergency fund, I would like to make early settlement too. Hopefully bank will give discount on early settlement.

Apply credit card to get 0% Advance Cash like RHB up to 15k, Standard Chartered up to 15k, HSBC up to 12k.

https://www.sc.com/my/promotions/interest-free-coc-plus/
https://www.hsbc.com.my/credit-cards/offers...est-instalment/

or use 0% Balance Transfer to withdraw from CC by topup into eWallet (bigpay)
Affin Bank 0% 12 months, RHB 0% 12 months, PB & Aeon 0% 6 Months.

Simple wedding is a good advice. smile.gif

Good luck! Congratulations too!

Thanks, very good recommendation. Will put this in mind. Can you advise if we transfer to Credit Card, would it be possible to cash out? For example, my bank A cc has 0 outstanding. I balance transfer from bank B to bank A Credit Card, can I withdraw that amount?

Cannot direct cash out as withdraw from credit card will have fees. Some eWallet allow withdraw from balance. find those eWallet & topup & withdraw with less fees.
Example:
Use Bank A credit card topup into BigPay (max 2.5k per month per BP), do local bank transfer (max 2k per month and each time 1k max, fees 0.50 per withdraw)
You do have friends/relatives with BP right? Topup with Bank A credit card into multiple BP until reach Bank B balance transfer limit.
Then balance transfer Bank B to Bank A.
Pay 12 months 0% on Bank B.

P.S.: Normally those 0% Offer is valid for new to product customer.

Can surf direct on banks website too, some banks will offer limited time promotion offer or member only rate. Do check out bank's promotion page. Sometime these offers is not updated on comparison website above.

Normally personal loan is on flat rate and didn't give discount on early settlement. If you have flexi house loan with positive balance, do consider that one too as rate usually lower than personal loan rate. Early "settlement" will reduce interest thus "discount".

Other method like KWSP i-lestari (RM500 per month), KWSP Account 2 Withdraw (reduce housing loan), PRS (pre-retirement withdrawal max 1.5K per provider TnC https://www.ppa.my/wp-content/uploads/2020/...enalty-new.pdf). These should be lower interest rates than personal loan (please compare & calculate fees involved) and can give you some cash or cash flow to overcome any loan or cash borrowed.

Some life insurance will have cash value too and you can borrow against your own insurance policy, not sure about the lend rates. Maybe you can contact your agent smile.gif

Thanks both for information.

I do have housing loan, but I only served for less than 1 year, can I top up? As I dint do full loan, I pump quite abit for deposit though.

Most probably didn't have enough & early deposit couldn't withdraw. Less than 1 year also not worth to do refinance, will have penalty and not much money for withdraw. Maybe take note that in future 2nd house, try to get 90% loan and pump the extra cash into flexi so can withdraw easily plus can reduce interest too.

I recently got a personal loan. So I think I can tell you the most updated info for now.

First of all, call center people can give you better deals than if you walk into a branch. So whenever possible, try to get a call center person to give you a deal. But if you cannot, then below is the best banks

Best personal loan in the country right now for private sector employee:
Bank Islam:
-Raw best interest rate is bank islam.
-4.5% interest per annum if loan amount is 3years or less. 4.9% if 4-7 years. And 5.5% if 9 or 10 years.
-Unfortunately, they only allow up to 58% DSR.

Standard Charted
-Interest pa is 5.5% flat. Up to 7 years
-However they allow up to 90% DSR.
-Also call center people can give you cashone credit card promo. Basically if you loan 50k, they give you cc limit with 50k. In the future you can just call for cash based on your limit. I personally like this one beccause having extra credit line is incredibly useful for someone like me. Credit lines are not easy to come by. Whatmore a no questions asked credit line.

Hong Leong
-Again, call center can give you better rates. That time the agent say can go as low as 3% pa if you qualify. But I didn't qualify for that rate. Maybe you're luckier.
-Max 12x salary.
-If you go bank, then HL got promo as low as 3.6% pa. (with caveats)
-First of all, they only allow up to 5year loan.
-Second, to qualify for 3.6% pa, you need to show you have at least 20% of the borrowed amount in a fixed deposit (parked any bank).
-3rd, Their flat rate is actually 9%. 1st year non nego is 9%. From year 2-5 you can get the promo rate of 3.6%.
-I think dsr is also 60% (can't remember)

The rest not worth it. But good mention: Alliance bank and RHB bank. Most no questions asked bank. You show them the document, they give you the loan. Rates are expensive though.

Verdict:
-SC is very competitive. If you approve 80k loan, you get a credit card with 80k limit. In the future, this credit card can use for cash advance via cheque on call plus. So you buta2 get an additional credit line. The credit card rates are competitive also. If you choose to take up the cc loan, min 3.95% interest. This credit line no need any more documents or pre check or whatever. Super nice if you think about the long term.
-if you just want to go for max loan, SC can give you more because they allow up to 90% dsr. So you can borrow more at a shorter tenure.

-Bank islam is straight up lowest rates. Nothing else. Only problem is the low DSR. So you might end up having to borrow for longer tenure. This may end up being more expensive. So you need to calculate. But for anything 3 year or less tenure, bank islam in unbeatable.

-Hong leong bank is the best if you want to borrow for 5 years. The total interest paid will end up being 24.5% for 5 years. This will win over any other 5 year plan given by any other bank. This is because you pay 9% for 1 year. And 3.6% for other years. This plan is not worth it if you want to take short tenure. Because the 1st year is always 9%. Only the subsequent years are 3.6%.

Additional advice: Wedding no need until 50k. The only one who will remember your wedding is you and your wife. Last time unker wedding also 20k je. Sommore cover back more than half from angpao.
