Hi guys,

Out of the sudden, my laptop screen keep flickering/flashing almost all the time.

Lenovo ideapad 320S
Windows 10 home (original built in)

You can see the problem on this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmgtWMPLiAQ

Then i connect with external monitor, switch to "Show 2 display only".. External monitor doing fine...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11SB0tYnIDY

After I switched the mode to "duplicate display", my laptop screen keep flickering again..
However the external monitor seems ok..

but sometimes, if I continued to duplicate mode..
the external monitor display also got disrupted..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-o8X5kZiBc

What I did since then:

1) Uninstall & reinstall the display driver.. still same..

2) I tried to flash BIOS but failed due to my BIOS already updated to the latest version

3) I update my windows to the latest version.. still same..

4) I checked whether there were something changed (such as windows update) when the problem occur but nothing found

5) I disable window reporting (suggestion from youtube).. same problem..

One more thing..
How to determine whether my screen monitor (hardware) is the problem or just some software problems?

1. Your YouTube video doesn't work
2. Flickering laptop screen usually means faulty / dying monitor flex cable

Is your current power in your house is stable? If not stable, it may also cause the flickering issue. This happen to my external monitor when I switch on/off the ceiling light in the same room.

Usually flickering happen when your monitor is nearly end of life. If laptop screen keep flickering, it may due to hardware issue also.

Power supply is stable since there's no problem occur while i used the external monitor..
I think I've done much for the software..

If it's due to hardware, how much cost to replace / repair it?

If it is still under warranty you can send back to Lenovo service centre for check and repair. If out of warranty:
1. Send to Lenovo service centre and ask for check and repair if required. You will have to pay them for the checking services. If they have confirmed hardware issue, remember to ask how much (quotation) before hardware replacement.
2. If you confirmed is LCD Screen hardware issue. You can replacement on your own if you want to save cost. Remember try at your own risk. Here's is the video that I found how KL Gamers replace his LCD Screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42MllYl9AqA

Hope this helps.

Depends on how severe the damage is
If it's just a flex cable issue & you're willing to open the laptop on your own, it'll be quite cheap as the cable can be bought for less than RM50 in Shopee

There are tons of IdeaPad 320s teardown videos available on the internet
