My friend invited me to come out and talk about their business plan over coffee.

At the end is Amway. But he say previous Amway is different from current as they are changing the outlook. Nowadays, they do not same like last time those uncle aunty do direct selling. Now they have service which is gym, make up and facial centre which provide service and the products they used are from Amway, from there they bring in Amway. And another changes is no longer have uncle and aunty as members and all of them are in their 20s youngster or fresh grad trying to change their life and improve their future

And today i attended their seminar, is free, so those member that monthly earning 10k come and give a talk. She said this is a great platform earning passive income. Talk a lot of stuff like fighting with parents because idea of joining amway rejected, recession proof, travel far from different city just to attend seminar, working whole days still actively participate in this, study degree get 3k while doing this get 3k for lifetime, be your own boss, can do the thing u like and enjoy during weekday while everyone is working, not to be in the group of “employee” which most of us fall in it, no need to see boss face, escape from 9 to 5, escape from daily jam, join this and retired early, join this to earn freedom and time for the future so have time to spend with parents and children as most of the husband and wife come back from work only see their children when they are fast asleep or on sunday so called family day and alternatively what she mean was Having family day on everyday not just sunday.

So is it really worth to join and commit into this?

A friend of mine join amway and i could say the people who talk in your seminar is bullshitting u. It’s true that it’s a good platform but then to say u can escape from the so called working environment is a bs. Still need to work hard, still need to meet people to promote products. But he got great commission because he’s working hard. The product also good as they collaborate with other brands as well

My friend who joined and relatively success are the ones who worked real hard, have a stable job with huge network and doing Amway only as a side income.

And those who expect easy money, naive and shy to make new communication, (only die2 want close friend to "support" them) without money management knowledge and saving will eventually lose money in the long run.

imo, I dont think many people can do it and reluctant to acknowledge that their upline just eating them up

My family member is in Amway.

I can tell you this there's no such thing as passive income unless your network is older than 10years.

If you can build network of ppl under you. Better go insurance as you can have own agency

Typical MLM

If they found a gold mine, why would they need to share with you ?

Unless you are their miners

This is the feedback from a person who left after a short period of time;
1. You need to subscribe their learning books and CDs. It will come in the mail around once a month or sometimes your up line will ask you to buy during events.
2. You need to go to their big seminars. This may happen around once or twice a month.
3.You need to go to their nightly seminar. Once a week.
4.You need to go to meetings with your up line around once a week.
5.You need to pull in people and they need to pull in people so both of your lines can work.

1 to 3 costs you money. 1 & 2 will cost you a couple of hundreds, especially no.2.

Their idea kinda works, but if you don't believe in their system and you don't have people who shares the same beliefs like you, it is pretty much pointless. If you can't bring people in, you can't improve and you will be stuck there. To me, I think this works if you just finish high school or around college where all your minds are still fresh and think this is a side business, so you maybe able to pull people in because they are still partially gullible. But for working adults, they know better because it is MLM.

Ask any MLM agent; how are they working around the limit of saturated Malaysian market that refused to breed beyond 30mil.

Also 4. You need to use their products otherwise how are you gonna tell potential customer that so and so is good for what purpose. That will also cost money, lots of money because these MLM products is no way cheap.

Depends on what you are selling. It is slightly costs more than outside but honestly, I do believe some of their items are quite legit to be good enoughla like their vitamins and some cooking condiments. Make-ups and other items I don't know that well. But ya, you & your team will need to use the products to convince other people how good and effective the products are.

nowadays youngsters are relatively more educated n have better research skills compared to people last time, hence not many are that gullible anymore

unless u have tons of cash lying around, else u wont wanna pay premiums for amway products that arent the top-notch quality products (to price ratio) among other non-MLM brands

Being your own boss sounds sweet but most people in this position will push themselves harder than any boss will push them. I've seen Grab drivers resign from 9 to 5 jobs and work 12 hours a day. 6 to 7 days a week. Grab also attracts them with the "being your own boss" line. Nothing wrong with working independently but know what you are getting into instead of being seduced by thoughts of free time and family time.

im from amway family > 20 years

Short answer yes.

Passive income? yes. Parents already built a strong and self sustaining network that even if they dont do any sort of sales/activity, they get passive income around 2k/month.

They has been repeating the same word for many decades already. All they said is scripted and repeated. They even show you the best figure and best product you can get but some not even worth to buy and not even being useful either. You can join their club if you like but you need to work hard 1000x to get the benefit. Your upline will no need to work hard as you after their lines stable. Good luck.

As TS mentioned, you are 100% right that the amway biz model has changed tremendously over the past 20 years, mainly becoz of speed of spread of information. My parents come from the era where they need to fill in manual forms and pay bonuses in cash/envelope to their members. And they need to Q up at the amway office to fill up forms, order/purchase goods, which was so inconvenient it only made sense to stock up goods as the office was far from home.

Today Amway is much more streamlined where all the member has to do is walk in to the office place order and walk out, or fill up orders, forms online.

My parents have not attended seminars as they used to do before, barely 1-2 a year now. At the peak of their biz, they were earning >RM10k a month with free trips overseas. Income is directly proportional to the number of people you meet/talk and spend time to convince them. These days they have slowed down as they are nearing retirement age, but the income still rolls in because they have built a sustainable network of consumers under them.
