u got budget 60k cash?
why buy FIAT if u can consider other choices? 60k can buy a very nice car in the market like a DC2 or Civic EK with type R engine, even a Mazda RX7 if u can afford the maintenance |

Interior space wise its definately huge for a ppl carrier of its class due to d space created by those 'creative' lines. 2. Looks wise is very subjective, so i leave it up to u. (I personally heard ppl commenting tat Myvi n Boon looks ugly while another bunch insists its nice) 3. I understand there is a Fiat Club establised by Fiat owners who bought from Torino (or was it other company) last time in Klang Valley. Mayb u can check out d Fiat forum in Autoworld or MotorTrader.com.my. I'm quite sure they sorted out their spareparts n mechanic problems even if it meant modifying or importing d stuff from overseas. |

QUOTE(mockv1per @ Aug 9 2007, 10:22 AM) fiat.. think that the spare parts will be expensive since that car is kinda rare here.. if everybody is placing spare parts price as their utmost priority in choosing car, then everyone will drive a Proton. so u better check out some other cars within 60k range.. For some people money is not an issue. The desire to be different is what makes some people choose not to follow mainstream trend. That's also why some people do modification on their ride -just to look different from other owner of the same model. It is better to buy a car that you really love rather than a car that suppose to be cheap on parts/maintenance, because at least you can live with the problems associated with the car. Think about classic car owners. Their cars are not high performance as modern cars, and parts are really difficult to find and expensive. Resale value sometimes cannot cover all the restoration/maintenance cost. Somehow they took pride of their cars and love them very much. This post has been edited by emechelmi: Aug 9 2007, 10:48 AM |

Hi Since i am now working in the workshop only for Alfa & Fiat car, so here is something that i can share with you. Current market, brand new (old) unregister FIAT Multipla is selling at 80K. and maintenances for each service:
Using Selenia Oil 3Xtin, Oil Filter,Gear Box Oil,Coolant+Labour is around RM320.00 everytime. For timing belt service every 40K-50K KM change once is around RM800. For my opinion, FIAT Multipla maintenance is not very high if compare to Alfa cars. consider low already. the spare part wise, we have no problem for that unless there is a special part broken, then need to order from italy and the shipment is the headache part. but so far there is a lot of OEM spare part can be found in Klang Valley area. If you are budget at 60K 2nd hand, i can suggest you get Fiat Multipla 1.9JTD which is within your budget. Any further information just log in our offical website. www.faitalia.com.my. Thanks welcome to question me and shoot me ~ |

This car has a really funny design but it works well as a family car. Plus, it's quite safe too for passengers in the back compared to people carriers.

Yup! agree! for what i can see in my workshop i seldom see the Multipla in the workshop having big big repair unless it is terrible accident.
For me, Fiat car is very cute like pig body figures, i personally like round round shape things~ haha~ and the body is really really tough same as Alfa. not sure is it as tough as beetle or not. About the interior, most of the customer found this problem, as it is direct import car and interior like dashboard, and side door panel, anything that has plastic cover will melt, sticky sticky one. due to the warm weather. So what we do to solve the problem is spray it ! ! |

hi Nel, thanks for your sharing! urmm... i am not very good in auto kinda stuff... so rm800 to change timing belt is it way expensive than same range jap car? pai seh, mayb a bit shallow minded but i think by this comparison, i can get better pic. if i do my service maintanence in other workshop, is will it cheaper or it is not advisable? actually for me, multipla 1.6 is sufficient, btw got auto right? cuz the photos i saw all are manual wan... and i had have nuf of manual car

Just check with the Spare Part Department, what to change is 2 timing belts, 1 bearing and also reconfirm the price. 600bucks for the goods and 200bucks for the Labour fees. You may get cheaper charge either the labor fee is lowered or the goods is lowered at outside but that depends the what kind of the workshop, are they FIAT specialist or just general workshop.
For example you can go to food court get a chicken rice or go to The chicken rice shop(very famous shop around the big shopping mall). which one serve you better and delicious food. FYI, Multipla never sell auto gear in Malaysia. as i've been to the stock keeping place and check all over the place. Unless the one you saw is modify changing gear box. I personally prefer green color, which one you prefer ? or silver ? hehe This post has been edited by Nel: Aug 9 2007, 04:27 PM |

Auto????? check this place http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/mod...-specifications
all Fiat Cars listed here, none of Multipla have AUTO gear. If anyone of you see the link of pictures please send the URL let me check it out. also checked with my Boss about this. I think you can take a smaller Fiat car if you looking for auto. which is FIAT Panda this one sold out, no more new stock(torino said that) you can check for the 2nd hand , this one also less problem like multipla, is much smaller then multipla and similar size like kenari. selling almost as Myvi price. But it is 1.3 only 16V consider strong power. fuel effective. Hm......just go and do some survey.... This post has been edited by Nel: Aug 10 2007, 11:55 AM |

If I have money, I'd get a Fiat500 or Fiat600..
If the TS likes the Multipla that it's his preference. I've never sat in one before so I wouldn't know how spacious it is and how it handles. Driving experience for a Conti comes with a price but the driving experience itself is priceless. |

Fiat Doblo, in the Fiat profile cannot find this car, and hardly see in KL here. Forget this model as the sparepart is like sharing with Citroen and Renault, don you recognise sometime you also see Renault and Citroen with similar car ?? FYI the Renault Scenic one Citroen also have, Fiat Ulyssee, Citroen and Renault have too.
So just to let all of you see my favourite FIAT car which Malaysia dont have. ![]() I really like this one!! FIAT Ideal ![]() This is FIAT Panda, interior is slightly bigger and shorter than Kenari and of coarse much tougher than Kenari la !! ![]() Another cool one ! Fiat Croma |

There's a local Multipla website. www.mymultipla.multiply.com , it'll link you to their yahoogroups! website.
Check out this one. It's yours for RM55k. A high price for a used 1.6 unit but is redone and the only one in Malaysia with bodykit fitted! http://mymultipla.multiply.com/photos/albu...a_2002_Facelift Generally, the Diesels posed the most problematic in Malaysia and also in UK (yahoogroups UK website), and hence more maintainence and workshop visits. Most reviews asked you to buy the diesels due to performance and of course, the europeans prefers diesels, and yet they're the ones that have enormous amounts of problems. Better bet is the 1.6 petrol and yes, the entire planet only has MANUAL transmission. Due to it's manual tranny, it has better pick up power than equivalent 1.6 MPV's ala Matrix. For auto, you can try the Chevy Nabira (timing belt change is >Rm1k I think), but space wise is 'tighter'. Personally, I dun believe in medium sized 7 seater MPV's. Getting in and out the rear is a pain. There was a comparison with Zafira (see youtube type 'Fiat Multipla Top Gear') by Jeremy Clarkson and he chose the Multipla for MANY reasons. Did you see FIfth Gear in Astro 78? The team also chose the Multipla vs Zafira II vs Renault Scenic II vs Honda FRV/Edix, Toyota Verso and the VW Touran! |

Nel,
The Doblo uses the Multipla Diesels parts and engine NOT the same as Renault and Citroen. The Ulyssess, maybe. The 1.6 Multipla shares it's parts mostly with the Brava/o and the Marea. Therefore, parts should be aplenty from recon, chop shop or new. Need Nel to confirm this. |

Rubicube, you are right, Multipla,Bravo/a & Marea share the same engine which mean same power. but the rest is differrent. !! thanks!
FIAT Panda is a much better choice and with current price is little little big high then Myvi only, but sad to tell you all that Panda is no more stock. If there still have 10-20 over in stock with that attractive price i will consider to get one, as it much much better then Myvi haha~ but then talking about the spare part and also maintaining fee sure is slightly higher then MYVI. So to all Fiat Panda Lover ![]() Once again,we lost the oppotunitties to get this nice car. This post has been edited by Nel: Aug 14 2007, 10:39 AM |
