Assume both race have 2000 pax of straight As students/4 CGPA.

Race A - quota 20% 1000 pax.
Race B - quota 70% 3500 pax.

Race A 50% will be out since exceed quota. Second tier won't even get a look in.
Race B 100% will get in and to fill in the remaining 1500 pax. Those second tier/2nd class will get chance to get in due to free slots...
Now, how is that same fate...

Aus government didnt look at my race or the fact that I wasnt born in this country when considering my uni applications out of high school.

Yeah its based on merit. If you studied hard enough in Aus doesnt matter from which race you came from, you will be able to get into the uni course of choice

Also Aus gov gives out loans for any citizen trying to get a degree from a publicly funded uni (no interest charged btw). So even if you are from a dirt poor background you can still complete the course.

Yes being poor definitely has its disadvantages, but why do we need to add on another disadvantage based on racial quota? There are poor and hardworking people in every race

Why should a poor chinese / indian student be less likely to get into a university compared to their malay counterpart? So an average malay student from a poor background should get a university spot infront of a smarter chinese / indian student that is also poor?

Okay let me reword it as bumiputra people are helped more. So back to my question why prioritize certain races over the other? And no need to say that ying yang bs. Even with those tongkat in place you still see people complaining all the time about how certain races are doing better. Why not just work harder and better improve yourself. Aus has a big migrant / minority population, yet you dont see stupid rules like this being put in place to help the locals
