Try clear cache, stop the app and restart phone, see if can fix it. Maybe the latest Whatsapp have compatibility issue with your phone. Try use earphone with mic see if the sound loud enough. If really compatibility issue then can't do anything, wait for another update that will fix it.

tried clear cache an restart phone, ( i cant find the stop the app button anywhere though).

" Maybe the latest Whatsapp have compatibility issue with your phone "
- actually the previous version (.16, now .17) alr have this issue, i thought update the whatsapp to the newest version can solve. but it seem the problems still exist.
I tried to use earphone to record audio for whatsapp, and i cant hear anything from it though... Just swissss.. sound.

Since you already restart phone then no need worry about stop app.
Then means latest Whatsapp still haven't solve this issue. And since use earphone also can't solve it then I guess you stuck with it for now until Whatsapp solve it.

hopefully is the version that is the problem.... if it is the hardware mic problem, need to either repair or buy a new one, not sure how much it will cause to repair a mic or even worth it, if it is like the motherboard of a pc, then it would definitely not worth it ?

I dont have the force stop button in my app, only clear cache, but i tried restart. By revoke all permission you meant under permission setting, just close the permission for storage, call, etc?
