folks, i accidentally ordered and now i got a 5kg pack of mass gainer instead of pure protein supplement.

problem is now i'm at the cutting phase, i need/want to be at a caloric deficit being a borderline fatass @ 19% bodyfat makes me really conscious. One serving of this weight gainer is 400calories, while i should be aiming for 1600cal per day to be on a deficit

BUT the protein content is good - 30g (i avg around 120-150g protein for muscle maintenance, and really hard to hit this # w/o supps), only downside is it comes with 400 calories, and it will be really hard for me to survive with just 1200 or 800 calorie per day from normal meals (ie.if take 1-2scoop per day)

question - will this mass gainer calorie of 400 translate into actual 400 calorie from natural food? ie will my bodyfat increase? I want to increase weight, but bodyfat% MUST be in the 15-16% range...

should i sell off this supplement?

If you are doing 1600 cal a day, your 400 per scoop is going to bust it.

Yes, 400 is ALMOST the same as natural food, but minus essential stuff like vitamins minerals and most importantly, fiber.

Will your bodyfat increase? Yes, it is as simple as calories in, calories out.

Sell it away or keep for next bulk phase (it usually lasts 2 years, or longer actually if unopened).

Sell.
The main thing you need to watch when cutting is your caloric intake. The gainer is gonna bust this wide open.

If you are in for the protein, get a protein tub instead. Fitting in a mass gainer is counterproductive.

400 calories in the end is 400 calories regardless of the source. But like the poster above said, nothing beats natural food. And your sentence near the end contradicts yourself; you mentioned you are cutting and need to be in caloric deficit, yet you mentioned you want to increase weight?

About the last sentence, indeed - my main goal is only to reduce bodyfat%, not really weight. Hence why i am keeping my protein intake sufficient to build/maintain muscle during this period. Tho it won’t be as apparent as during bulking phase... but I don’t think i’ll ever do that anymore... the fat % gained during that time is just not worth it for me.

Recommend you to get Whey from Purefit. Its cheap, tasteless without sugar or flavor. 2 scoop = 32gm protein.

Sell it off simply because
1. There are other food with sugar that taste nicer and cheaper (ice cream)
2. Taste bad
3. Sugar is not a good source of carbs even it let you hit calorie deficit, unless your objective is to loss fat despite health in general

Mass gainer = overpriced whey + sugar
