Explain pushup holding dumbbell.
Do you mean resting the dumbbell on the floor and using it as a grip instead of having your palms on the floor?

Ok. Assuming the spacing between your hands is the same and the only difference is the usage of dumbbells as a base, mechanically there is little difference.
The dumbbell may offer a little elevation which allows you to drop deeper at the bottom of the movement, but that is probably it.

Agreed here. The whole 'instability to activate core' is like already a 10 year meme.
I remember the old barbell squats on a ball LOL session on the bodybuilding forums years ago.
