After removing battery, the only  part that could hold some power would be the mobo but it is using the minimal power to maintain the BIOS anywayz. I bet the car has all the metal shielding against any signals that would be transmitted by the mobo.

Thats my take if you really need to keep your laptop in the car.

So you mean you remove the battery and carry it around? If you want to put the laptop in the car, that is. Was that what you're trying to say?
