Hi, I have a Dell S2240L monitor that I have been using it for 5-6 years. Everything ok then all of sudden I cannot turn it on the next day. I noticed the power button doesn't produce 'click' sound when I pressed it. Should I try to send it for repair or buy a one?

It maybe just small problem. Strange to see tact switch failed like that since it is just a piece of metal but the switch is cheap.

Can send for checkup and then decide to repair or not depending on cost; but either way need to pay min charge. Charge is expensive if go to Dell I believe but cheaper outside.

It would save money if you repair if it is just a switch issue.

Of you open the back panel (just like prying open a laptop), you can find a ribbon cable that leads to the power button. There should be some marking indicating which pins are the power switch. Try shorting them, if the monitor turns on, it's simple power button problem. What's left is finding replacement.

Use plastic spludger, not metal.

If don't have any, use plastic card, don't use screwdriver.

Any old electronic shop can open and check that.

You can ask laptop repair shop to do that as well. Shops that repair mother board can also repair monitor if the problem is not with the display panel, but with the electronic before the display panels.
