This brand is call ezysure, been advertising good for seniors. I just bought it for my parent, but it seems like the content is more harmful rather than healthy?

Please enlighten me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

Because of the first and second ingredient.

Maltodextrin & vegetable oil. Also when I opened the milk powder it has very strong veg oil smell

Those 2 ingredients are not really benefitial to health

Maltodextrin & vegetable oil if not mistaken are for thickening the milk. They appeared in many commercial food products.

But if possible try other brands that use less of these food conditioners and fillers.

Please la.. The most popular brand appeton diabetes milk 60+ powder containg maltodextrin. Please don't come out wrong information to other people. Saturated fat and unsaturated fat is the most important part for a milk. It is consider healthy if the saturated fat is low.

4th ingredient is sucrose.

Sucrose is like white sugar. Look at the sugar content per 100g on the label.

Maltodextrin is also a high GI ingredient.

If your parents are diabetic or have high blood sugar, I suggest not giving them this milk.

maltodextrin is a sugar alternative...and is very high in GI by itself

it is very cheap vs sugar... so manufacturers make more money using it

ppl scared of sugar...but ignorant of maltodextrin... so it's a win win for manufacturers...they advertise no added sugar... but load up on maltodextrin

your powder it's labeled low in GI because per recommend serving size...the amount of maltodextrin is still low

As you say is correct the GI level of a product is depend on all the ingredients inside the level of high GI with some low GI ingredients total up with the final GI level. Cannot confirm a product GI level by looking an ingredients only. Maltodextrin is safe to consume in small amount(Malaysia ISO is the one control it so don't worry about the amount using as they have their limit on control) maltodextrin do have some benefit, the recent study show it will help prevention for the one of the most common cancer colonrectal cancer. The fibersol-2 inside maltodextrin prevent the growth of the tumour. Can read the articles on 2015.
