Hi.
At home I use a webcam + long ass USB cable extension.
Viewing it from my room on my desktop PC.
Just to see who's coming and going.
....
What is wireless webcam?
Use batteries like a wireless mouse?
Or still using cables such as ethernet cabled, router etc.?
Can we just placed the webcam and use it straight away? π
What's the point of calling it wireless when we still need to use cables.
Pardon my IT knowledge.

Yeah, IP camera fits the bill, but from my experience of purchasing one for my previous company (because they don't want to spend extra to upgrade their network switch and buy more CCTV cameras), it still needs to be connected to a power outlet. Only the connection is wireless.
The downside is that it's only viewable if you have a mobile device like a phone or tablet. PC, no luck. It's a China no-name brand, so not surprised there. But those from reputable manufacturers should have better support and compatibility across all devices.

QUOTE(mbr @ Aug 5 2020, 10:00 PM) It worked for me. I got Xiaomi Home running on Bluestack, and setting up was easy. That's because it's Xiaomi, not a no-name/unknown brand. Even Clash of Clans also worked fine on it the last time I was using it 3 years back. If the app is for some peripheral from a no-name/unknown brand, for sure it wouldn't work fine as the developer of Bluestack will most likely focus its compatibility on apps from official brands rather than unknowns.

What's the point of calling it wireless when we still need to use cables. webcam > wifi > wifi router. no LAN cable involved. for the power part, it may still need a wired 12v power or it may have built in battery. Let the management pull their hairs over it. Going to do more research in this area if I do plan to get it for my personal use one day.
