There is no specific rule that says you need to have both hands on steering.

Or else, there is no need to have radio set, gear stick, or any other buttons in the car because you need to have both hands on steering.

Holding a phone - saman.
Holding a ciggie - maybe NOT, lol.
Pressing a button on the radio - OK.
Moving your gear stick - definitely OK.

So no issue, with 1 hand only on steering.

why not, even 0 hand also not an issue as long as you dont crash into anything. technically the law say you shouldnt doing other things, so as long as you are driving, remotely, using your mind, its legal.

It’s the hand phone that will get you fined.

Yea, because the driver might get distracted when using handphone while driving, which is very dangerous for the driver and other road users.

It is VERY dangerous to drive with one hand, you severely impair your reaction time in case of an emergency. As a driver for many decades, I can tell you that bad luck will always come when you LEAST aspect it.

Most people that were involved in avoidable accidents say the same thing- they thought it's okay to not wear seatbelts because they feel in control, no need to wear helmet because it's a short ride, etc but guess what, these are the people who get injured in accidents, or worse.

It always saddeneds me that people don't respect the road and will only follow the law when it's forced upon us. I don't care about the law, I want to keep me and my family safe when I'm driving and that means doing everything I can to mitigate any risks of avoidable accidents, including using one hand to drive.

My advice? Don't worry about polis saman, worry about not loosing a a limb, a family member or being 6 feet under because you feel like the car is under your full control despite driving incorrectly. My friend said something once, the roads are like the battlefield, only filled with negligent civilians rather than skilled soldiers.

It kind of a grey area I think, Didnt come across stating any law that you have to drive with two hand else its against the law.

During driving test you do have to drive with two hand right, so its there for a reason.

If you hold girl with free hand, illegal.

11. Discourtesy by drivers is marked not only by speeding and cutting in and out of traffic. Other actions that constitute discourtesy are:

- Failure to give proper signals in due time;
- Hooting unnecessarily;
- Parking on a bend or well away from the side of the road;
- Steering with one hand, the other holding the roof – or a girl;
- Driving in the middle of the road when others wish to overtake;
- Driving through mud and puddles at speed and splashing pedestrians.

What we do know is that if you steer your car with one hand and get into an accident, that can land you in legal hot water under Sections 42 and 43 the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or inconsiderate driving

if you get into an accident and there’s evidence showing you were driving with one hand then you could get charged under either s.42 or s.43 Road Transport Act
