Not sure what to tell you because I never experience how SJK run. I am cinababi who was never a bright one. Like, it is either me or my another friend who always compete for the last place.

While it pretty much depends on the teacher, I was lucky to have a very caring homeroom teacher who never fail to punish me with rotan, lecture me on life whenever I fail a subject or when I am not in the right attitude. I hated my teacher. Until when I grow up, I started to appreciate all the hardwork my homeroom teacher, and regret everything I have done which gave her grief. Slowly, all this life lesson she gave me turn me into who I am now. Now I have stable income in a very good company, I might be even better than those who were in the top back in the day.

Every CNY, our classmate would plan reunion gathering with my homeroom teacher, and she always told us we are the only year who does this with her. Which made me both very happy and sad.

Moral of the story, while teacher and school is important, it is also as important for the parent to instill and encourage the kid with the right discipline and attitude, motivate them correctly and be patient. Like if I didn't have the mindset I did, I would probably rot elsewhere or ended up in kongsi gelap. Then and only then your kids can be successful.
