I just wanted to reiterate what Fusker said earlier today, and to add some new information about the Hitachi-LG drives.

    * As of right now, NO 65nm consoles have left the factory, nor are 65nm consoles going to be leaving the factory anytime soon.
    * The Halo 3 consoles will NOT HAVE 65nm.
    * There are QC issues with the 65nm CPUs. Consoles with the 65nm are getting the RoD after only a few hours of use. More info on this later.
    * The new heatsinks may be on backorder, so refurbs might not be coming with them for now.
    * Most Hitachi-LG DVD drives will fail within the first year of use. If you can, get a BenQ.

hahahahaha..been reading the link given by haris...and now..almost all 360 users that posted there r hoping for the 3rod.....to enable them to get the replacement with the new spec...several of them r withholding the shipment for warranty claims until september to ensure they r getting the new spec too...and what amaze me..the process of warranty claims have been improved tremendously..smooth as silk with an extra gidt if it is getting delayed....hats on to Microsoft...too bad..we r not covered it here...cant wait to get my Halo edition direct from Spore for full 3 year warranty...I guess that the best option for me now....

So Falcon is coming later than expected. But I have confirmed that it is coming. In July, Microsoft's hardware team was in the midst of qualifying Falcon and the IBM 65-nm microprocessor so that it could get all the bugs out. Now those chips are in the first batches of the new consoles that are coming in ships across the Pacific from China, where Microsoft's contract manufacturers assemble the boxes. If they get here in time, then many of those machines could be ready for fall sales.

Why do people care about the CPU it's the GPU that need to be look at,as the GPU created more heat then the CPU.That is why GPU overheat always occur error 0102 exp

It the GPU that need 65nm process not the CPU ...I did not even heard of any people get CPU overheat in their XBOX360 ....(Stupid M$)

since for falcon, CPU is 65nm but GPU is still 90nm, why not they switch the heatsinks around and redesign the mobo? i feel the bigger heatsink can benefit the GPU more.

and yes, even with the extra heatsink, there are reports on the net those batch can also 3RL
