I think it is only later that they defined USA as udang, sotong and ayam. Just because those ingredients fit the acronym.
Years ago, the nasi goreng USA at the warungs I've been to were always Western themed like hotdog & stuff. |

Got lots of Gooding Thai prep nasi goreng as a student myself.  I think the whole udang, sotong and ayam definition of the acronym came in the 2000s, and people started matching to it. |
