Try using a SSD and clear cache cookies regularly. Hope it helps.

Try this

a. Go to Start a Search and type in background apps.

Click on that.

Deactivate ALL background apps.

b. Use Ccleaner and clean up the HD and also the registery.

c. Go to resource monitor. Feedback on the 4 main parameters on usage. See which one is at high load. Maybe not enough RAM? Etc.

d. Uninstall programs you dont need anymore. Installed programs will use up your RAM, CPU etc EVEN when you are NOT running them. Eg I have this Drivermax program, I run it every few weeks. But when I look at the resource monitor, can see it running even though I did not ask it ro run.

Hi, i'm buying Asus vivobook (4gb ram, 500gb hdd) with the win10.
I only use laptop for surf net or excel. No playing game.

After 2 years, my laptop now become very slow(actually is lag like hell) and the disc usage always show 100%.

Due to the ram is built in on motherboard, so I can't add more ram for my laptop.

So, i'm planning to downgrade my win10 to win7 as I only surf net and excel. May I know  win7 still can be used on my laptop? Because I Heard some people said win7 already not supported by Microsoft.

Thank you.

The obvious answer to your problem is removing the Windows autobackup file that added along the time. Lots of people don't realize the although useful when restoring Windows in case or screw ups can restore to the last good boot up. Just need to remove all those old version & leave latest 2-3 dates & you will be fine. FYI, this slowness as a result of capacity full affects all OS regardless, Android & IOS also not immune to it when phone is full. My advice is to keep your Windows 10 as it optimize system better than Windows 7 OS.

Highly recommended to switch to SSD. See the speed improvement below.

HD SSD faster by

win startup -win screen 40 18 55%
win startup -screen caption 62 28 55%

Excel file 42 7 83%

Brave - web screen 27 7 74%

TS,

Just follow the good advice here to switch to SSD. I was using normal HD until I jumped into Crucial MX500 SSD (1 TB) and that decision makes everything worthwhile for me.

Love the speed right now on my old AIO PC. rclxms.gif

Windows software can be downloaded directly from Microsoft website

As for office, if your laptop originally comes with an Office, just link it with your outlook / hotmail account, then after formatting, you just need to login again using your Outlook / Hotmail account to re-install the office software

Upgrade the RAM to 8GB and change the HDD to an SSD, then your laptop will be blazing fast
Both of these upgrades would cost you less than RM300 if you know where to look

TQ for yor advice. Too bad RAM is built in and can't uograded.
BTW, need your advice again.
1) if I don't have any tools, how can I download the window software to my new SSD hardisk?
2) The window will be automatically installed if my SSD has the window installation file?

I have Compaq Presario CQ42. Change from 320 GB to 128GB Samsung SATA SSD.

There is like day and night when boot up.
