Hi, i'm buying Asus vivobook (4gb ram, 500gb hdd) with the win10. I only use laptop for surf net or excel. No playing game.
After 2 years, my laptop now become very slow(actually is lag like hell) and the disc usage always show 100%.
Due to the ram is built in on motherboard, so I can't add more ram for my laptop.
So, i'm planning to downgrade my win10 to win7 as I only surf net and excel. May I know win7 still can be used on my laptop? Because I Heard some people said win7 already not supported by Microsoft.
Thank you.

Delete whatever files you don't need.
Empty Recycle Bin.

Downgrade is possible as long u have the drivers.
I have downgraded various Asus laptops running on W8 and W10 for many years before.
Meanwhile, consider upgrading to SSD and if u have a DVD drive, replace it with the default 500GB HDD. Easy with the 12.7mm DVD to HDD adapter.

There's no escaping it, get ssd. Add more ram if you can, after upgrading to ssd.
I've an old Intel atom with 2gb and 32gb eMMC and another with 2gb/64gb. Still boot within acceptable time compared with my i3 (1st gen) with 8gb ram and hdd (before it was upgraded to ssd).

Confirm upgrading to SSD would solve your problem. Your vivobook what model? Some has M.2 slot some only has SATA.

Check your HDD SMART status. It may be your HDD is failing. It could also be the hard disk is full. As a general rule, keep at least 15% free.
Delete things you don't need and defrag.

Not sure if you're a Power Excel user? Otherwise, I suggest you consider using Excel Online on One Drive. Migrate your OS to Ubuntu Linux, it might give you less headaches. If that is too outrageous an idea, than I suggest you just re-install Win 10, and cut down the bloats on Win 10 by researching on the Internet. Win 7 is EOL. 1. Clean your computer. There are various tools for that WiseCare, CCleaner or even the Windows 10 built-in. I assume that you have a lots of useless temporary files, full cache, cookies etc. Windows loves leaving behind a lot of unnecessary stuff on the hard drive. Just clean it.
2. Upgrade your hard drive to SSD just like people are suggesting. You are missing out on speed and reliability
Downgrading Windows is a good idea but only after you have cleaned your system and ought SSD and those two steps prove to be ineffective. Don't bother yourself with Win 7 right away. You will work your butt of and see no change.

Try update your motherboard SCSI drivers, mostly drivers kacau. Another option is upgrade to SSD.
