Hi:

My housing area flooded just now during heavy rain, the water came in through my front door and flooded my house about 1-2 cm, may I know what is the best way to stop water from coming in? I know some uses sand bag, or clay bar to seal the gap but the problem is need someone at home to do it before the water level rise.

Automated very expensive. How often does it occur? Just raise a step in front of the door

Got Automated? This is what I am looking for, any recommendation?

I would not prefer to raise a step as it is ugly, and might accidentally kick and fell.

I usually see them for commercial building. Check out automated flood barrier. Pricey and not practical for residential

It is quite rare to have flood in my house, last time was 2017, also about the same level, 1-2 cm inside house.

Last year it reach car porch only.

If your car porch is tiled, there is no way for the water to run except going inside your house.

If you dont mind spending some money to redo to this ...

any water initially will seep into the ground first thus reducing it. It may not work 100% if the rain is extremely heavy.

Well I saw some house spend some $$ to raised the car porch & living hall...

Some cheaper option... Build concrete wall at the door..
Not high. 1ft or 2 like that only...

Just done renovation my house and the base is slightly raised, now my house floor is higher than my neighbor, if not then the water coming in will be much worst.

ya I saw that too by building a concrete wall, but that will be my last option because it is damn ugly.

I upload some photos of my main door where the flood water come in from the gap.

It is a double layer aluminium security door.

The flash flood is minor and will recede very fast because my house is near to the big drain, I don't have a single flood for for the past 40 years, but now maybe due to over development somehow affect the efficiency of the drainage system.

There is a space between outer and inner door frame.
Maybe I can install water stopper barrier which also been used in bathroom?

AquaDam?

Basically using water filled bags to surround the property. Very successful in the US for standalone properties.
