QUOTE(taneuhua @ Aug 20 2007, 09:47 AM) Had 2 friends and a relative owning Acer notebook. Sure, they are cheap, but it is not reliable. First thing is the parts fails one after another, right after one year warranty period. But still dont know why Acer still avertise as Best in malaysia The first friend got a touch pad problem, so she went had to return to the factory for warranty, it took almost one month (can live with it without one month? forget it) The second friend, had tons of problem booting up after a few months time. Resolved once, fine. Then right after warranty period, the LCD died. So? Laptop turns to desktop already. My cousin, a weird unit. You can't have even have the bluetooth built in, until the warranty period over. He said adding the built in bluetooth will void the warranty. I was like huh? can't you get that when you bought it. Battery problem, once plugged in, the CPU load mysteriously goes to 100 percent. When battery taken out, goes back to normal. Still the battery warranty just over. So, you want reliability? I would suggest u pay a little bit more for a better reliable machine instead. I've seen my other friends' Asus unit, the built quality is quite solid, stable. My only complain is the Fn Key layout in the Ctrl key position, and the warranty can be a slight pain as well. |

QUOTE(taneuhua @ Aug 20 2007, 04:32 PM) Well, IMO the main thing is that most Malaysia want cheap and still looks good. So, they can go to Starbucks and college to show off or something (I don't mean everyone, but from what I've seen, that is pretty much true). In the end neglected the reliability and performance of the machine. True speaking, I don't even like a single bit on the Acer Ferrari theme notebooks. Just paint it red and slap in a logo. I prefer the Asus Lamborghini themed notebook instead, the glossy paintjob looks sick(in a good way). And if we compare both Acer ferari and Asus Lamborghini.. the price diff are too much.. I dont think bring an Acer to Starbucks are something soo call show off now days If really have to get an Acer, i rather keep a lil more and get Dell Cheers, and stop buying or recommend Acer to peeps! |

QUOTE(taneuhua @ Aug 21 2007, 05:44 PM) Serious. There's one story about some guy wanted to sue some company, because due to long hours usage, burned his balls. But, I guess he was doing something perverted, I mean who will put the laptop on the lap without any pants on? Wa with your story sure make Death_nite hold back to buy this Other disadvantages with small size laptop, sure will have small screen size. So, don't expect to have very nice multimedia experience on tiny screens. Less USB ports, and might not have the option to get a dedicated graphics card. Take for instance the new Inspiron 1420, the only dedicated graphics is the 8400M, but no option for 8600 like the 1520. Why? because that thing will go so hot in such a compact size that it'll burned the stuff inside, and size is also a concern to fit that sucker in. For me i dont really prefer have dedicated card on a small lappy.. beside hot (making internal parts lifespan shorter) it a good batt sucker too.. But when it come to performance.. im sure this lappy can do good job! At least better then my Intel GMA X3100.. Cheers |

QUOTE(y_owez @ Aug 21 2007, 06:44 PM) Small lappy are very good if u travel alot, but i dont like the idea small lappy with dedicated gpu in it.. hot and batt life is big problem to me..My 12.1" lappy temp jump up to >45C with Intel GMA X3100.. imagine how hot it can be with it build with dedicated GPU.. the fan will blow all the way to make this lappy cool thus another batt juice sucker.. Im not a gamer so dedicated card is no no for me on a ultraportable lappy Cheers. This post has been edited by V3000: Aug 21 2007, 06:50 PM |

QUOTE(y_owez @ Aug 21 2007, 06:51 PM) Sure this card is good (on a lappy this size) but if bro dont play game or do any heavy grapx stuff why bother get lappy with dedicated card on it? Dedicated card = Hot and batt juice sucker.. im sure most of us here know bout this If your lappy mainly for Office work, mp3 and web surfing.. dedicated card is useless.. just make ur lappy hotter then others.
