I bought a Asus F9S during pcfair, with the T7300 2.0GHz processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, Nvidia GeForce 8400 G, 12.1 inch lcd, dvd burner and 2 year international warranty. It's a new model replacing the F9J. Specs and price are comparable to the dell xps m1330. The reason why I bought this was because I got tired of waiting for the dell, and would be going overseas soon.

It's nice that it came with a free targus notebook bag that fits well, plus a usb travel mouse. It came with loads of freebies in pcfair, which are mostly pretty useless to me, things like a usb hub, another mouse (wth?), cooler pad a headset, kensington lock, screen cleaner and a sleeve that's too big for it. From the brochure, it seems like it came originally with 1GB ram, (single 1gb chip), with a free upgrade to 2gb.

Have been using it for 2 days now and here's a quick review. Sorry for the messy writing..

Build

Overall build quality is quite good, but definitely not as good as the thinkpads. There is slight flex over the if you press hard in a few areas, especially on the right of the keyboard, but wouldn't be a problem. The hinges are tight, and the screen feels quite sturdy. The lcd does flex a little, but there are no ripples on the screen when I tried applying pressure on the centre of the screen, which is impressive.. The full size keyboard is comfortable to use with a generous amount of travel. My only complain is that the few keys on the upper right hand side of the keyboard, mainly Del, Backspace, Home, PageUp, etc, are a bit mushy. The surrounding keys sink a tiny bit when u press it. The rest of the keyboard feels solid.

The size is quite large for a 12 incher. Take an A4 paper, add 1cm to its length and 1cm to it's with, and that's roughly the size of it. It's uniformly 3.6cm thick with the lid closed, and the lid itself it about 1cm thick. Not really an ultraportable, i'd say. The frame around the LCD is very thick, and i think could accomodate a 13.3" screen. Reminds me of the old Dell XPS M1330. But hey, it's almost a good RM1.5k cheaper than the W7S with the 13.3 inch screen. One thing that i'm quite unhappy about is that the supplied 6 cell's battery sticks out about 2.7cm at the rear. There's also a bulge at the top of the lcd for the 1.3 megapixel swivel camera. When closed, the battery sticking out at the rear, and the camera in front makes it somehow awkward to carry if you move around alot. It's also a bit on the heavy side, approaching nearly 2kgs with the 6 cell battery.

The matte black finish looks stylish, without being too striking or plasticky. Though to some might think it looks a little boring. I think they have silver too but it's out of stock at the moment. It comes with loads of stickers all over the palm rest. I immediately peeled them off when I reached home. I mean what's the whole purpose of advertising something you've already bought?

Unlike most other notebooks out there, it doesn't come with any media buttons. In fact, there's just a power on button, a Power4Gear button to switch between performance, power saving modes, etc, and a wireless on off switch. No fancy touch sensitive glow in the dark flashy buttons. That's good enough for me, though a dedicated volume button would be a great addition. There's also a fingerprint scanner on the right of the palm rest. On the left, there's a VGA port, HDMI port, a USB port, a card reader and an express card slot. The main air vent is also located here. The rear is dominated by the battery jutting out like a sore thumb, with the power input and lock port on the left, two USB ports on the right. On the right hand side there's the DVD burner tray, the ethernet port and modem port, and the audio in / audio out jacks. The speakers are located beside the hinge below the LCD screen. 3 USB ports is the minimum for any notebook, in my opinion. On the other hand, the touchpad is at the same level with the body of the notebook, and have the same colour and texture. The size is pretty standard, but the buttons depress very slightly when pressed, providing little feedback.

Screen

Light leakage is quite evident, but not as bad as some other notebooks. The LCD display is very bright and if it weren't for the reflections, would be very usable under sunlight. The glare is unavoidable in all glossy screens. The screen itself is vibrant and sharp, no complains about it so far. As expected, there were no dead pixels. Side viewing angles are very good, maybe even too good if privacy is important to you. Vertical viewing angles aren't that great though, but still pretty acceptable. My only wish is, well, if only it's a 13.3"...

Usage

After 20 minutes of usage, the notebook warms up considerably. Depending on the usage, the air vent on the left hand side may get very hot, with hot air blowing out as the fans kick in. The rest of the notebook remains slightly warm, which is quite acceptable. The base does get warm, but not uncomfortably so. I guess all the heat is effectively channeled out through the vents. I haven't tested the processor and GPU temp yet. Under normal operations, it's reasonably silent and barely audible in normal indoor conditions. In a silent room though, the fan and hard drive can be heard, but not too distracting.

Power / Battery

The size and weight of the power brick is unacceptable. For a notebook that weighs 4 pounds, the power brick weighs a freaking pound! If I'm not mistaken, it's the same one that ASUS is using for their larger 15.4 inch notebooks. Battery life is about average on this notebook. A full charge will lasted about 2 and a half hours with wifi on, bluetooth off, in power saving mode and about 25% brightness, doing normal web browsing. A 3-4 hour battery life would be much better, but it's a sacrifice that has to be paid for the dedicated graphics. Salespeople who claim a 4 hour battery life have no idea what they're talking about.

Performance

Vista took about a minute to boot, and continues loading stuff for another minute or so. I wanted a fresh installation, so I popped in the recovery DVD, and manually reinstalled windows, and repartitioned the hard drive. This removed all the bloat and trial software, which frankly isn't that much to begin with. Booting up to the login screen takes a little more than 40secs with a clean installation, and another 30 secs after that to load everything else. I had a bit of trouble with the fingerprint scanner in the beginning, sometimes needing two or three swipes before it could be recognized. So far, everything seemed quite responsive even when multitasking, but I haven't tried other processor intensive tasks like encoding video while running a virus scan that kinda thing.

The great thing about this notebook is that it comes with a dedicated Dx10 Nvidia GeForce 8400M G graphics card though it's the slowest version of the 8400 series. I haven't tested out any games on this notebook yet, but judging from reviews of other similarly specced notebooks, it should be slightly faster than the previous generation 7400 card. Older games like HL2, WoW, should run well at high settings. Games like Civilization IV, Rome: Total War should run fine too. Newer games like NFS:C, Oblivion, FEAR, C&C should run in low / med settings. Forget about Crysis, Lost Planet, etc..Get a 8700gt or a desktop instead. But hopefully it can run starcraft 2 when it hits the shelves.

I haven't run any benchmarks yet, probably later if anyone's interested.. But I think the T7300 2.0GHz processor coupled with 2 gigs of ram should be more than enough for daily tasks.

Multimedia

The videos taken using ASUS's LifeFrame software didn't seem that clear, certainly not as clear as Macbook's. It appears to be slightly choppy. Might require some tweaking and I'll work on that. There's a LED flash thingy on the camera beside the lens, and I couldn't seem to get it to fire. I thought it would be great if I could somehow get it to light up at night to illuminate the keyboard. Swivelling the webcam can be useful to record lectures, but otherwise, a cheap digicam can take much better video. In a quiet room, the speakers were quite loud, but very lacking in bass. A decent pair of headphones (not the free ones) or a pair of speakers are a must for gaming / movies / audio playback.

Networking

No problems connecting to my wireless G network, but I haven't really tested out the range yet. Bluetooth worked and I had no trouble connecting to my axim.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the notebook. I don't think there's any other notebook out there that can pack so much in so little space and deliver so much at this price range.

Pros:
1. Nice free bag
2. Great price for its specs
3. Dedicated graphics
4. Great display
5. HDMI port
6. 2 year international warranty
7. Spacious HDD

Cons:
1. Big, heavy, ugly, bulky charger
2. 6-cell battery that sticks out
3. Thick frame around LCD
4. 2.5 hr battery life
5. Poor webcam quality (??will confirm this)

Yup, that's the bundled 6 cell battery stickin out an inch. The 3 cell batt doesn't stick out but won't give you much juice. The 9 cell sticks out even more I assume..

Cool laptop. Nicely built and design. I like it. The only drawback I saw is it's look thick. How thick is that thing? Is it more than 1 inch thick? or less?

Haha..actually i reformatted and installed vista again without the bloat. Basically just norton, nero, office trial version and other stuff that I won't be needing.. I prefer working with a new OS.. Wasn't hard though, pop in the recovery disc and let it load by itself and it's ready in half an hr..

RM4599 during last week's pc fair...a week old now. It sold out pretty early and I wonder how the other owners are doing..
Right now, it's available at Evernew in lyp i think.

True it's kinda thick.. around 1.4 inch thick..weighs about 2kgs. Frankly, i'm more bothered with the battery sticking out than the thickness, but then for its price, not forgetting the free bag, warranty and stuff, i can't complain! smile.gif

Battery life, as I mentioned above, wasn't one of the notebook's strong points.

I quote from my review "A full charge will lasted about 2 and a half hours with wifi on, bluetooth off, in power saving mode and about 25% brightness, doing normal web browsing."

For my notebook, I reckon it could probably hit 3 hours with all wireless off, minimum brightness, vista aero off doing some basic office stuff. 2 hours seem a little short to me.

Have you calibrated your battery? Charge it up to the maximum and run it down, repeat maybe once more and see what happens..

As for the webcam, just open a program called 'asus lifeframe'. Or else just install msn or skype, and just start a video conversation..You should see your face soon..

Haha..thanks! Well, to me it depends how important battery life is to you, and whether you play games on it.

If you're planning to travel alot, my suggestion: get the Dell Latitude D630. It's 14 inch, and comes with the intel X3100 graphics or the quadro 135M..but what's remarkable is it's crazy battery life. CNet's test unit clocked 4hr 45 mins with the integrated card and 9 cell in the DVD battery drain test..6+ hours of normal usage is possible. It's slightly heavier than the asus, but with that kinda battery life, you won't have to bother bringing the notebook charger. Besides dell's spare batteries are cheaper compared to asus's. Also do check out the Vostro 1400 or Inspiron 1420. They have 4~5 hour battery life.

Battery life aside, the 8400M G card is pretty weak in terms of gaming performance, with nearly the same performance as last gen's 7400M. IMHO, notebooks just aren't meant for gaming..

Those thing's aside, the F9S is a solid performer.. I haven't really compared it with anything else, but for it's rm4999 price, it's really hard to beat.. I'd say go for it!

Do you need good graphics? If yes then for 12.1" you only have Asus F9s to choose from. If 13.3" is okay, then Dell XPS M1330 is not bad.

IF good graphic option is not a necessity, then you can go for Macbook (13.1"), Acer TravelMate 6292-301G16 or Twinhead J12S/200 (both 12.1").

All these models are priced around 4k - 4.6k.

Haha..let's not let this be a asus vs acer thing..they're both reliable brands. Good or not it comes down to the individual model.. Asus have good notebookbooks and some not so good ones and vice versa.. I don't recommend twinhead though..

Yeap, 7 hours is insane..but i think dell's base 1.8ghz t7100 is sufficient. On the go you'll probably be in power saving mode which underclocks the processor anyway. Dell latitude looks too businessish for me though. The new inspirons are worth a look, but i think a year from now starbucks will be full of em..

well if you can wait for a while more, there's a PC fair on the 7-9 December 2007.
I'm quite sure there'll be models that are cheaper and hold the same specs.

try not to get into a fanboyism flamewar, but i wouldn't touch or go near any acer.

I do not own an acer, but my gf does. So , the job of reformating the nb and maintaining it became my duty automatically.

I've have so much problem with the acer till i literally gave up. to list down afew,

the nb have an ATi x1300 card, but when i was looking for the driver in ATi's website, i could find all other nb brands but not ACER in the official site. fine. next step would be searching for them in the Acer website. Which i found the driver, but then when installed, it is not supported. Hence, the X1300 card is useless in that nb now.

there's a built in webcam. then again, installed the provided drivers with the cd and again , no hardware found. hence again, the webcam is useless.

since i couldnt freaking get the x1300 working, i couldn't hook the nb with the projector. hooking it on the projector give me shit load of issues. ( not to say i have no experience in these settings, in fact, i've hooked up pretty much other brands of nb to different lcd projectors)

there's more to come, but guess i should stop here.

Asus? my sister is using the M5, and being a girl who knows little about computer, she handles it 2 years without any major problem besides there's one time where the charging component gave a buzzing sound. but problem was rectified n solved very fast by asus.

with their renowed name in motherboard making, i would rather trust asus and acer.

no1 best selling in malaysia ? with that kind of price, any brand would be no 1. I accept the fact that acers are cheap, but not exactly the best bang for buck nb. and yea, try not to believe too much in advertisements.

That i agree..haha.. even the charger and mouse also can't comfortably fit in it.. But it's small la and the size ngam ngam fit a 12 inch notebook, plus a small A4 sized file..To tell the truth I'd rather have a 12 inch bag than a 14 inch one..

Cyril..any complains with ur lappy? I haven't used mine much out on the field yet..

Walao! Your computing friends dont know Asus? Me puter dummy also know Asus le! Their grafx card are superb (desktop)

Apple cons: Very troublesome if u not used to Mac OS and even u install M$ on it there always hardware and drivers problem! Not to forget Apple machine are very hard to upgrade (ram etc etc)

Had 2 friends and a relative owning Acer notebook. Sure, they are cheap, but it is not reliable. First thing is the parts fails one after another, right after one year warranty period.

The first friend got a touch pad problem, so she went had to return to the factory for warranty, it took almost one month (can live with it without one month? forget it)

The second friend, had tons of problem booting up after a few months time. Resolved once, fine. Then right after warranty period, the LCD died. So? Laptop turns to desktop already.

My cousin, a weird unit. You can't have even have the bluetooth built in, until the warranty period over. He said adding the built in bluetooth will void the warranty. I was like huh? can't you get that when you bought it. Battery problem, once plugged in, the CPU load mysteriously goes to 100 percent. When battery taken out, goes back to normal. Still the battery warranty just over.

So, you want reliability? I would suggest u pay a little bit more for a better reliable machine instead. I've seen my other friends' Asus unit, the built quality is quite solid, stable. My only complain is the Fn Key layout in the Ctrl key position, and the warranty can be a slight pain as well.

Well, IMO the main thing is that most Malaysia want cheap and still looks good. So, they can go to Starbucks and college to show off or something (I don't mean everyone, but from what I've seen, that is pretty much true). In the end neglected the reliability and performance of the machine. True speaking, I don't even like a single bit on the Acer Ferrari theme notebooks. Just paint it red and slap in a logo. I prefer the Asus Lamborghini themed notebook instead, the glossy paintjob looks sick(in a good way).

If really have to get an Acer, i rather keep a lil more and get Dell smile.gif Build quality i cant say anything since i read alot sad comment from Dell user but anyway Dell give good warranty support smile.gif

Cheers, and stop buying or recommend Acer to peeps!

and F9S , the ctrl key n the fn key is like other laptop liao.... not like previous both key interchange places.... so the key is not a problem now biggrin.gif

I made those bookmarks, but I don't sell those. If you want, you can download from the Gallery, print it then laminate them. smile.gif
No, I don't own an Asus, but I have friends do. Built quality is quite sturdy, but warranty you need to go back to the seller.

Serious. There's one story about some guy wanted to sue some company, because due to long hours usage, burned his balls. But, I guess he was doing something perverted, I mean who will put the laptop on the lap without any pants on?

Other disadvantages with small size laptop, sure will have small screen size. So, don't expect to have very nice multimedia experience on tiny screens. Less USB ports, and might not have the option to get a dedicated graphics card. Take for instance the new Inspiron 1420, the only dedicated graphics is the 8400M, but no option for 8600 like the 1520. Why? because that thing will go so hot in such a compact size that it'll burned the stuff inside, and size is also a concern to fit that sucker in.

Well, I don't own an F9S. But been using some thinner and smaller notebooks, so you can imagine if a 13-14 inch size notebook is so hot, what will a 12.1" be?

Added on August 21, 2007, 6:00 pmFactors that cause a higher rate of heat:

- Faster processor
- a higher speed HDD (7200rpm produces more heat than 5400rpm)
- dedicated graphics card
- laptop bad ventilation design

Take note: The notebook will produces even more heat, if you are using it on top of the bed, as fabric retain heat and the surface might block the ventilation holes. Go get a laptop cooler to prolong your notebook lifespan.

Wa with your story sure make Death_nite hold back to buy this smile.gif But its good we can share our idea and discuss on..
For me i dont really prefer have dedicated card on a small lappy.. beside hot (making internal parts lifespan shorter) it a good batt sucker too.. But when it come to performance.. im sure this lappy can do good job! At least better then my Intel GMA X3100..

Small lappy are very good if u travel alot, but i dont like the idea small lappy with dedicated gpu in it.. hot and batt life is big problem to me..

My 12.1" lappy temp jump up to >45C with Intel GMA X3100.. imagine how hot it can be with it build with dedicated GPU.. the fan will blow all the way to make this lappy cool thus another batt juice sucker.. Im not a gamer so dedicated card is no no for me on a ultraportable lappy tongue.gif

Cheers.

Sure this card is good (on a lappy this size) but if bro dont play game or do any heavy grapx stuff why bother get lappy with dedicated card on it? hmm.gif

Dedicated card = Hot and batt juice sucker.. im sure most of us here know bout this smile.gif

If your lappy mainly for Office work, mp3 and web surfing.. dedicated card is useless.. just make ur lappy hotter then others.

I think this Asus machine should be reasonable, since it is quite thick, unlike those Sony VAIO ones. Well, if you want to play games for longs hours, should really get a cooling pad for it. Otherwise, it should do fine.

Another true story, a friend played for long hours till the hard drive kaput.

there's a full aluminium one made by Cooler Master. But the price is well over a hundred bucks. You should settle the ones in the midrange instead. roughly 50-70 should do the trick. Don't buy 20 bucks one, they are practically useless.

Added on August 21, 2007, 7:15 pmEven better, free alternative would be putting ur notebook, with 2 books on the sides to lift up the unit. Then use normal house fans to blow brows.gif

yeah ... wif graphic card will temp seem up very fast but wif a cooling pad will make it cool alot even though i using the free plastic rm20 cooling pad.... so i think wif aluminium n change a high rpm fan will solve the heat prob ..... besides i think the HDD temp is more high coz normally a lappy can feel hot at the bottom left side which the HDD located (correct me if i wrong)

i using my f9s for max 4hours+ oso not feeling those "hot" until terrible .... n its still reasonable hot la if compare wif my desktop power supply=.=

never regret bro... its bad luck!!! yawn.gif
hot sure hot one.
but light and small is the advantage. somemore how come man, can burn your nuts? where got people put lappy in !@#$%^, sure put in both middle of the thigh, unless your snake is 30 cm horizontal. whistling.gif how come how come... icon_question.gif

asus people not stupid cool2.gif. their company so big thumbup.gif , sure their R&D department run a test before chunk in 8400.
its means, the body, the heatsink, everythink is already calculated ngam ngam. some more, desktop hardware is not the same with lappy hardware.
the performance of the lappy hardware cannot compare to desktop la bro.
big and small, cute and BBW. sure no worry man.

yeah, if u not a gamer, its useless to use high end lappy graphic, but we are human. sometimes we do need to explore. dont you hated it, when u suddenly want to play games, get a shitty, laggy, broken pixel picture doh.gif .
somemore consider the price, damn, for 12.1 lappy from asus, <rm 5000 is damn cheap rclxms.gif . some T7300. whats more to consider..
got money then can buy already

Acer also good. 6292 also very sturdy. but the screen lid, wasted.
aiyo, you guys flame acer like that.. dont talk no1 in malaysia, Acer is the 3rd largest in the world. Acer is assembling only worr.. if got hardware defect, dont blame them la. blame the manufacturer of the hardware. can check 1. Dont Compare Acer with Dell worr.. they both has same business line. Assembling only. Heat Problem, Weight Problem, Blew hot air problem all this is because of the design.

people said nec, good no 1 in Japan. bla bla bla. my nec also died within 2 yrs. the first 6 mth, the DVD-Rw Died. So i checked who is the manufacturer, turns out FUzitsu Dvd. See? even Fuzitsu got problems... my sister toshiba, also got problems. cannot boot up. must take oout the DDR and put back, so its mean MObo probs, and the Mobo made by Intel, see Intel also got problems..

In Conclusion Expensive doesn't guarantee decent operational life. its about luck and Design. u like the design, then buy it.
cheap doesnt mean not good either. its just only a business strategy.

why alot of people complain about ACer Laptops, dell Laptops, but seldom hear Vaio and Asus, Fuzitsu got problems? because alot of people own acer and dell but few owns vaio and asus and fuzitsu.
so for example units sold in malaysia:
-1million acer units= 10000 defects. the most sold unit in M'sia. sure more defects.
-1 million dell units = 8700 defects.
-10000 vaio units = 2 defects.
-7000 fujitsu units = 1 defects.

i think its fair if u see e.g. margin.

therefore most of people realize of this, and if acer really not good, they cannot be the 3rd largest in the world. somemore Ferrari also partnerd them. as u know ferrari only goes for good quality product. anyone own ferrari? no? same la. thumbup.gif

therefore for acer to be able to sell the units at affordable prices, alot of things must be sacrificed, warranty for example. cheaper sure got 1 year only. if u ask for 2 years or 3 like toshiba, vaio, then u must be ready to spend 1000 more. so its the same. can u imagine if acer broken already within 1 year, u can use 1000 to fix it. so no problems already. why bother...

a very balanced way of explaining how the world works. tongue.gif n..seryesly.the lappie..good price..awesome specs. it don get any better than that.i own a thinkpad x60. damn cun the design n awesome battery life..but flippin pricey. n have to buy the add on for the sake of an optical drive. n cannot play warcraft 3 and frens sumore..tongue.gif f9s sure can play one. thumbup.gif

The way Seng Hui explained is fair enough. Sometimes it really depends on your luck on the unit you got. Even nice laptop models have hard times. sad.gif
Still, I would pay a bit more to get a reliable machine and warranty. I don't want to waste time back and forth to claim warranty.

Yea. Every time going back and forth for warranty. A new unit become like an old unit already, screws keep getting opened and closed, parts will eventually get loose. And it's wasting precious time, and the data is important.

Bro u mean the LCD panel is too big for 13.3" ? Maybe Asus make it bigger so wont spoil easily ma.. the lid meterial is Magnesium alloy? Or full magnesium alloy composite body and lid?

My Intel T7300 on my 12.1" lappy idle temp stay at between 37C-42C (normal temp room, no aircond) Measured by TAT.

Yes bro, i do agree your machine is nice but to make it lifespan longer i think u should consider to have a nice cooler (cooler master) should be good. try hunt at garage sale.. someone selling it with good price.

Btw not hot for you doesn mean not hot for the internal parts, get a cooler hopefully can make it idle stay below <50C.

Since your lappy soo small i think u better get this (CoolerMaster NotePal 12" to 15"- RM95)

Made from aluminium and if not mistaken NotePal cooler come with very high RPM fan. Beside cool down ur machine, it lift your machine higher so it easier to type smile.gif

Ah sorry recommend wrong 'stuff'.. i also dont know how they design the Asus F9 sweat.gif
Ya, the drawback to have Thinkpad X series is the lappy itself only come with 3 usb ports, no touchpad and no dvd rom.. but u sacrifice this to have a very durable ultraportable <1.5kg lappy brows.gif

Ya, i encode movie even my 'stay cool machine' get very hot (up to 70C!).. if idle 60C i dont know what will happen.. but i dont think 60C idle on F9s.. 60C idle something go wrong with the proc le..

Bro, to test that we actually no need to be a pro d..
Bro u turn on your lappy (on ambient temp room) then leave it idle for 10min then click on the TAT program and read the temp state there (core 0 & core 1)

Cheers, Hope to get ur result soon smile.gif

Bro when u leave it idle for 10min most of the program* gone into sleep same goes to ur processor (deep sleep) with your santa processor. While they all 'sleeping' u can get lower idle temp.. if it stay at 60C, bro i think u better sent it back to service center.. (60C on idle is something i call MAD lappy)

*Please temporary turn off your Anti virus tongue.gif
^My lappy have 87 process on background

Most anti virus automatically run their scan engine when u idle for sometime.. this make ur proccessor work.. we dont call that idle right?

1 week sent back = crazzzyy? Then im insane smile.gif My 1st lappy i sent it back right after i reach home 1st time use tongue.gif

Im sorry bro, i dont mean to make u sad on ur purchase. Me, myself plan to get 1 of this (Asus F9s) for my gf bday gift (as her lappy ageing already)
But when it come to temp matter, im very sensitive with it (hot machine keen to have shorter lifespan).. and feel very very uncomfortable when use on lap and make our bed hot! NO GOOD!

I suggest that is the temp maintain >60C, bro better sent it back to their service center to check it (But its good to get respond from other user 1st, this is what forum used for smile.gif)

Bro, just get a good cooler that can suck the hot air... i think any good brand (with HIGH fan spin speed) will do the job well!

Bout the partation.. just delete all the partation then create it again. This time only create 1, but for me i think partation is good, example.. i can put all my files into 2nd partation so when i format my machine i wont lost all my doc..

Just follow the steps show on the screen then u done.. remember to choose the version u purchase if not u cant activate it with your CD keys.

Try format it, its fun! But dont forget to have all those drivers and backup all your important docx smile.gif

First things first, the vent on the side is to blow or intaking air? Coz normally notebook design, the air ventilation goes from bottom to the side, side is normally exhaust purpose (at least for the notebooks that I've encounter so far). Buy a cooling pad lo, but not cheap ones (they are pointless). Try to get those over RM50 ones, with 3 fans, or two fans if aluminium.

As I say before, don't cook your balls.

-Dont forget the heat that the Proc and the Gpu generate.. Im sure alot ppl happy with fast machine but the heat that this small machine generate sure minus the happiness... tongue.gif

For me if no SSD, XP is alot more better then Vista in a lappy.. No matter how fast our proc can reach we still gettin stuck midway by our mighty 5400rpm HDD tongue.gif

hm, using the T7300, so far i haven't fully test it. just now try to run & play Ghost Recon AW 2. doh.gif feels like the system carrying a big stone on the back. even when i put it on 800x600 resolution. a bit dissappointed becoz i'm hoping this GFGo 8400 could perform better, some more my RAM already 2GB. but the thing is he graphic card only running with 128MB. may be that's the cause. even better when i play the game(GRAW2) on my pc, using GForce7600-256Mb with only 512MB of system Ram whistling.gif

anyone tried 4G of RAM on the F9S yet?

does it have turbo cache for the graphics card? How much turbo cache does it allow? up to 1G or 512MB?

anyone tried World Of Warcraft on this machine? Enough juice in the F9S to run the MMORPG?

the simcard slot is there but not the chipset controlling it. just like Dell Latitude series, only the slot is there but not usable. u need to purchase additional option to enable it if applicable.
