Keen to actually visit a showroom to see an actual unit but not too sure on where I can go. Is there any detail out yet regarding this?

Went over to a Proton Edar showroom to book a unit today.
According to my SA, they had 5K bookings nationwide on Malaysia Day itself.
Most likely they breached 10K already by now...

The estimated delivery date would be from 3 to 6 months.
Even signed disclaimer to say I might not get the sales tax exemption lol.

Can bank actually loan you money without a product/purchase statement after approval ?

Are you sure car loan works this way ? This sounds like personal loan to me.

Let alone mortgage loan.
*
My SA from Proton Edar told me the exact same thing as the above post. They’ll submit the loan application with estimated pricing. Once the car price confirmed, they’ll revise to the actual amount.

Think the logic here is that SAs want you to get approved for the credit facility to ease the final loan application. If banks know you’re good for 100K now, you should be good for 100K when car is delivered. Thus, quicker loan approval when the final pricing is confirmed.

No it’s the fact that you can get loan approved without a purchase statement. At least for house loan you need property information plus proof of property only can submit for approval right ?

Otherwise everyone can take out all sorts of loan like personal loan ??? What is the purpose of labeling ‘mortgage loan’ and ‘car loan’ ?
*
Well, technically, if the hire purchase loan is approved, the funds get transferred directly to the vendor/merchant (Proton) and doesn’t reach my pocket at all. So, I don’t really see how anyone would take advantage of this to commit fraud.

And I’m 100% sure banks have their own checks in place to prevent this from happening.

Relax je... if loan is ‘pre-approved’ and I can get the car early, win win for everyone. Proton gets the money. Banks get a new customer. I get the car.

Thanks for pointing out the fact that the loan money goes to 3rd party not to lender itself bro.
*
Friend, that’s how ALL loans (except personal/business) work if you’re going through a bank lol.

This picture was leaked a few months ago when they were testing the car. Standard, Executive, and Premium variants have black interior.
*
Woah for real?
If so, I'm tempted to downgrade from Flagship lol.

The red leather interior is a bit too... much.

Righttttt.... Once in a while look at red interior maybe okay. Plus the biggest red area is in the dashboard clearly in the eyesight of the driver. Hopefully not gonna kacau with whatever light bounce/reflection there is
*
Correct... I think I'll learn to ignore the red colour but still, I prefer cleaner look kot.
I don't mind if interior all black as long as materials are premium.

If they had black interior for Flagship, instant buy for me.

Is the black dashboard plastic or is still leather?

I think this confirms that the dual-tone interior is only for the upper 2 specs...
Macam no option to switch ah well.

I got a question. For those who loan already been approved, they need to resubmit again with the exact price is it?
*
Yup.
Since the bank already has all our details and the credit facility is already pre-approved, bankers will process our application quicker (as they already have all the documents and etc).

My banker called today and re-confirmed, should be settled within the week since actual pricing was lower than expected.

2nd picture doesn't look normal at all.
SA didn't mention anything about it?

so is anyone jumping from x50 flagship to x70 premium? difference of 15k...
*
Was considering also but at this stage of life and the next 3-5 years, I won’t need a larger sized vehicle yet. So I’m okay for the X50.

Just went to showroom to have a test drive.

Pros, the car interior really doesn’t feel like a Proton. The screen really gives the impression that the car is way more expensive. Engine was quick and can feel the torque when you floor it.

Cons, the side cameras are definitely noticeably ‘blur’. It’s not HD but it’s alright, too used to using my side mirrors and didn’t notice the ‘Lanewatch’-ish feature that appeared on screen. Reverse camera was fine and clearer.

QC wise, there were 3 units on display and 2 for test drive but the chrome trim misalignment wasn’t there or really isn’t noticeable.

Colour wise, Red is not pleasing to my eyes... it looks very cheap... but some people like red ah well. Orange looks like Renault orange which may appeal to some. Grey looks like X70 grey aka air longkang colour to me. Silver was okay actually and can see it being a big seller for non-Flagship models. No white on display.

where to get that statement? my SA keep insisting the package is compulsory.

Just change dealer. My SA from Proton HQ says it’s optional and entirely up to you.

If they insist, just do business elsewhere.

U went to which showroom?

Proton HQ in Shah Alam/Subang next to KESAS.
But do note that they only do test drives by appointment only till the weekend.
If want to view, they have SOP of 30 pax in the showroom.

Nice review!

I remember watching a wapcar video on the Binyue, the presenter mentioned that the car in "D" mode will not move unless you press the accelerator?

As for the colours, I can imagine what the red will look like but I think the orange is easier on the eyes. The blue is probably like the Iriz blue.

The dual tone white-black remains the nicest colour IMHO, always ogling when I see Volvo XC40 or Range Rover Evoque with that paintjob drool.gif
*
Hmmm, mine moved in D mode, but not as quick as my current 2.0L car.
Normal behaviour of a 1.5L engine I think to move slower when brake is released.

Yes bro... red looks good in photos but in real life, something about the finish doesn't look good.
Orange definitely a crowd pleaser like on Renaults, but this time on a Proton wink.gif
Blue identical to Iriz blue as per my SA.

Didn't see the white there but yeah, that white/black paint job will look good drool.gif

Is there a non-flagship model for test drive (1.5T)? All reviews so far are with the flagship.

Not as the showroom I was at.

The price does not include insurance, but with NCB your price should be lower.
*
The 106K that the other user highlighted included the insurance. But yeah, will be lower if you carry over your NCB if you have existing car.

for the insurance, we must include in loan to get the proton insurance program? if pay cash we cannot get?
*
No, you can pay the insurance in cash separately if you want to. Most people don’t include in loan.
