would like to get expert feedback on the following matter.

Driving an Executive with standard 215/60 R 17 Giti tyres.

changing to another brand and the closest match is 215/55 R17.

Do tyre shops in Malaysia know how to recalibrate the speedometer to show true speed with the change in tyre size?

Have had my X50 since July 2022.

Everything works just fine except for the "Airbag failure" message on the meter cluster. this happens when the driver seat is shifted.

took it to Proton and they claim the extra carpet i put in is nudging against the cable, triggering the fault code.

They said it;s normal for the cable connector under the seat to have a bit of "give" or "looseness", which would not lead to the error.

Some X50 owners have faced this problem....how was this resolved? Did you insist on changing the under-seat cable? Did the problem go away after that?

It's not acceptable and also dangerous to leave the issue unresolved for obvious reason. Especially in a new car.

Just went to the proton service yesterday..they basically told me nothing can be done... adjust/jiggle it every now and then and live with the defect. they don't change the cable or connectors.

Is that what other Proton 3S/4S centres have been telling X50 owners facing this problem? Is there a permanent fix for this simple problem ... can any independent workshops find a solution?

Power window (driver side) also refused to open a few days ago. They reset it - probbaly holding the switch down for an extended period as discussed by some owners.....I triwed that before going to the shop but didn;t work for me....maybe missed some steps.

also coolant at minimum level. Bought the Geely coolant (RM27) to top up. No leaks according to workshop.

Seeking Good Independent workshops in PJ/Puchong/Rawang.

do you still patronise proton dealerships for servicing after the 5-year warranty is over?

have a 2022 X50. Looking for good independent workshops in the 3 areas. reasonably priced, X50 expert knowledge (for sure) and having proper diagnostic tools.

i'm looking to lower my regular maintenance costs without compromising on quality, and often you can get that through independent workshops. Finding a reliable and trustworthy workshop is like finding gold in your backyard.

Proton service centres will often tell you to change non-critical parts according to fixed intervals even if they are working fine.

On a related note, what alternative engine oils are best matched to the X50 3-pot engine? where are the third-party parts suppliers that sell OEM/original parts if you can't get the parts pronto from Proton itself (which seems to be a common complaint among owners)?

Have changed the Camel battery to Amaron recently after it went kaput after just 18 months of use. Changing to Amaron doesn't void the vehicle warranty, does it? Battery warranty would be transferred to that offered by the Amaron distributor in Malaysia from what i gathered. All electric/electronics working fine, alternator working normally.

i remembered years ago that some of the batteries i used in past cars can last 3 to 4-plus years. Nowadays, battery lifespan is two years, according to Baterihub technicians.
