Received call from my SA today that my unit litterally arrived. I'm on east Malaysia. So shipping is on the way. Maybe few weeks later so I make a report here first n follow up with u guys. I hope everything when well.

I make booking on 16th sep with bank in Rm500 to 3s dealer by a recommended SA. But loan only approved on 20th Nov which I only able to submit on 13th Nov after all required doc attained. Only after CONFIRMED so called LOU by banker, my SA called to lock-in a unit and then he asked me which color I preferred as he need to submit for allocation. I am guessing the color is compulsory to enter? I'm not sure how it work actually. Sorry if I'm giving wrong info. I don't buy car with proton frequently as this is my 1st time buying a proton.

So my SA take time to explained to me that his 3s dealer currently mostly submiting for the white. More than 50s as he explained. Next is Grey, silver, red, orange n lastly blue. So for the queuing system, u will need to wait for proton for allocation based on unit arrive to dealership. So if u wanna white, u need to wait longest queue. Ironically I wanna get ocean blue. So he said there is only 1 customer ahead. So i just try my luck and don't have much expectation. Maybe might come next year or so?

Somehow today get called by SA that's im next of line as the one queue before me decided otherwise. I ask for the reason but I respect my SA not to disclose the reason of passing it. So he ask me wanna get the car now or wait for longer time. Which mean passing to other customer? Not likely. He told me that only 2 unit allocated this round. 1 is white colour which is over popular and 1 is blue. Last round come orange and red. The rest are test unit and showroom unit before that.

So as we speak. I was confirmed with given chassis number and engine number. And as the rest my SA is handling and I just get my car plate number bought this afternoon. He is so eagerly compare to me cos he said it's the first ocean blue arrive here to sell to customer. Tbh. I'm quite bz working myself. As I tend to buy this as a gift for my mother it's as if the SA more exciting than me. I don't ask for any freebies given by SA if he give i take only. If not and I can leave with that as he get extra commission. Now is a tough time which I understand. I don't opt for any optional package either nor my SA force me to take the package.

Lastly. Thanks for reading my long report. Tl:Dr. Liase with ur trusted SA for any doubt or answer.

Is there a factory tint already ? Notice that the side door glass panel is darker than the front windscreen
*
Don't think so. But the top n side indeed darker. Front windshiled is hot as hell when driving. Need to tint.

So guys, I'm actually having a huge dilemma on whether to install a security tint or non-security tint.

A security tint is a double edge sword.

1) Gives extra protection to passengers.

2) But it could be fatal during emergencies when you need to break the windows to escape.

This is a real dilemma for me.

What are the odds of road rage/attack vs fire/car submerged in water?

My family member accident case make me think twice. His daughter face is injured heavily by the glass break at side mirror when impact. Sometimes not bout robberies only. Accident impact a lot more. Till now my pretty niece still got scars on her face. As for fatal emergency. I ever take out the headrest before. Which seems quite easy with X50. Can use that to break window if needed. From What I heard. Breaking the window inside is easier than outside. But I nvr try before. Maybe U can ask the installer to demo before u install their security tint.

I heard that lots of people complaining about the NVH even in 80 km/h.
Has proton solved it yet and does the noise feel annoying ?
*
Yes and No.

YES,The NVH of X50 i would say pretty on par. Its come with the package so this might be a deal breaker or u gonna live with that.
NO, PROTON have no solutions yet.

I noticed it prior during the test drive. I informed my SA straight. Wind noise is indeed easily noticeable even below 80 km/h. SA have no clue what imma talking about. Thats yr2020 ago.
U can book a test drive and see how bad it is. 80km/h is nothing. 100km/h above u will feel like at the beach.

Anyway, as one of the lab rat owner driving X50 few months down the road. I kinda feel 'dah biasa' with the wind noise. So i dont do anything with it yet. I too wait for the right solution.

I see a lot of experiments by other car owners to reduce the wind noise. Applying the 'Lintah' aero fins can help reduced the wind noise. Some creatively taped the rubbers. Thats helps too.

Hi, is it worth to get flagship than executive just because of the engine? Did the fuel consumption for both engine got significant differences?

if ur concern is on FC, i think u need to go for low FC based car like EV or hybrid. Todate my FS average FC is 8.9L/100km. But compare to my old C segment sedan, its slightly better. No eco mode at all, normal mode 100%. slightly better after 1st service. 1st service is 9.5L/100km. But if performance or driving experience ur looking at. Its another story.

1 example of mine. chingming, hot day with all the burnings. Face all red and hot. After done the ceremony, used remote start via apps when otw back into my FS. Go into car with family member, its all cool. How nice? its just another experience with my FS.

Thank you all for your insights 😁😁
all of ur comments are very helpful and make me think alot from different perspective.

Finally, I have made up my mind and go for premium. Reason being is, the only FS feature that pick my interest is the acc & icc, putting 10k for to have that just.. can't go through myself 😅😅 that's just me of course.

I m very annoyed by most of the sensor keep beeping me... loll, is like having someone beside u keep complaining about ur drive. 😅😅
*
Great choice to go for premium, if u dont really need those extra features why not.
Get ready to grab any possible opportunity given. my 1st choice was premium btw, cos just like ur thought, i dont need those extras anyway. but FS was presented to me that time. so i grab it. exec or standard are no way to be seen when i get my FS. Some buyer might change their mind to standard or exec or to other brands, due to the long waiting list or even a bigger X70. if u get what i mean.

Maybe have a share with you of my thoughts of those features listed as unnessary but as added features in FS after owning one.

sunroof or moonroof. ITS HOT. u need to fork out extras $$$ to tint it. but i got it for free as it come with the package when tiniting my whole car. i think many shop doing this type of promos. Can ask around. Just how many IRR or TSER is in negotiable term. After tint. seems ok and fine, i get 80% dark for roof. most of the time,i leave the shad open it at evening, night or morning for my kids to enjoy the view. only noon time closed with shade. But with the cool aircond blower front and back, not a big issue. by far i never open the roof window, just the shade. the interior become brighter and bigger with the shade open too. But still, cant stop ppl saying things like breakable, leaking or etc.....all those negative things with sunroof. Here is malaysia rite.

ACC ICC LKW BLIS or whatever ppl called it, ADAS maybe. These are good safety features. Its actually help teaching those driving it to be a better driver. Not to forget signalling when changing lane. Not to overlaps lane. Nlind spot indicator shows there might be motorcyclist around somewhere. Intelligent headlamp not to blind opposite drivers, extra light when turning and so on. FCW AEB to help prevent collision or accident before u can react. While ACC / ICC, auto hold, 360 camera, sensors, auto parking, auto light, auto wiper, those are for convenient purposes which is good to have.

Thanks for reading. Hope ur car buying experience go smooth n steady.

I have to agree with you on this.  I walked into the Proton dealer showroom to look at X50 and this SA was present. I didn't choose him and never crossed my mind he is such an idiot and lazy guy.  It's too late to change after waiting for 7 months. I'm not urgent to get a new car as I have 2 other cars with me. However, this does not mean I can tolerate the long wait or worst, dealing with someone shouldn't be in the sales lines at all.
*
long time i no follow the thread. but i really feel u bro when i read this.

If its been 7 months, what a long wait, time to act accordingly.
Getting a trusted SA is a must. be it experience one or inexperience one. I am lucky that my friend refer his
Trusted SA to me. He dont even know the features of X50, nor X70. but he get the job done. When i go collect car, he dont even know how the car work. Ironically, i am the one that explain back to him for some features.
But at the end of the day, what trusted SA do is get the job done, which is getting ur car ready for u. then its good job already.

Sorry cos i dont climb back to read the whole story of urs.
Sorry again if i missed up anything. its just a suggestion.

I got read how others succesfully get theirs after the long wait at other forum / group pages. just to share.
Dunno work or not. Again, sorry if its not working.

Before i choose the SA recommended to me, I too go visit other showroom, and the other dealer SA just say wait 6 month. that is year 2020. The other dealer SA show up quite a good service explaining all the details to me. Those gimmicks even before i was able to see the car, nor any car arrive to the showroom. But lastly i didn't choose him, yet i go back to the recommended one, cos i see how fast my friend get his X70 before.

As per my SA, The queue count will only start when LOU presented. He had request me to do it ASAP,
so he can entering to the queue ASAP. I bet u already know the hellish mess proton to dealer car allocation by now.

By 7 months, meaning ur LOU must have dated before OCT 2020. Booking should be before that too. Might be 1st day launching. BTW, dunno ur LOU expired already or not. If LOU expired and renew, they might reset the queue count. MIGHT. Hopefully not.

If this is what happen, meaning to say LOU as over 6 month.
Time to call-up the manager or owner. Ur SA not doing his job at all. no need wasting time on him.
Make an appointment and straight to their office. Straight to the Manager / GM room.
See them FACE to FACE, and ask them for car allotment. with ur proof of LOU and booking receipt.

By right, u should have getting ur car. on or before 6 mth. Demand for the reason of not.
The manager should have the last say of which SA get the car allocation.
Are they ignoring ur purchase?
Are they not submitting ur LOU to PROTON to provide ur allocation?
Are your allocation passed to someone else? < this always happen, ahem , VVIP >

If the problem is on PROTON side. Request them to follow up with letter. get as much proof in written matter and time to look for PROTON. Email them up to follow up.

Last word. Even if u wanna give them a angry face, its ok to do so. Some succeeded get theirs by this.

Hope ur issue resolved. Have a nice day and weekend.

Sorry, I took so long to reply to you as I wanted to provide the actions i have taken and what the car dealer with regard to my complains on the late delivery of my car.

I booked my car on October 2, 2020 (date of the VSO).

I applied for hp financing and received the LOU on November 25, 2020.

Fast forward, by May 2 2021 I have waited for 7 months from VSO date and almost 6 months from LOU date.

In the meantime, I have also applied to another bank for hp financing hoping to have a more competitive rate compared to the other bank has approved my hp rate. (hp rate shopping).

I have also called Proton HQ and complained that I have waited for so long for my car. Proton HQ said the 6 months period should be from the LOU date not from VSO date. If I don't receive my car by May 24, 2021, they will take action.

I went to the dealer to meet the manager and complain. He is just transferred to this branch a month ago, the previous manager resigned within 24 hours (suspicious ).  This manager told me there are 400 bookings for X50 for various types and only 40 cars delivered so far (10% of the order book).

I received a call from this lousy SA on May 25 2021 that I have been allocated my car with chassis number given.

In the meantime, my hp application from the second bank has been approved at a very good rate compared to the earlier bank. I signed the hp agreement.

I paid the down payment on May 28, 2021.

Because of the MCO, I decided to register my car on May 31 before the total MCO lockdown kicks in on June 1 2021 and miss the tax exemption period on June 30 2021.  The car will be delivered after MCO is lifted. Anyhow, this evening PM just announced the tax exemption period will be extended to December 31 2021. Doesn't matter to me anyone.

The manager assured me, car comes without accessories as demanded by other dealers.

Important takeaways, as mentioned by many people in this forum, ask around for references to reliable SAs, choose a smaller size dealers and keep following up on the SA on the status of your car.
*
Good to hear ur getting ur car after MCO. Hope everything run smooth after this and no more hiccup in between.
Indeed a good trusted reliable SA with good track record on the dealership including owner and manager play important part when buying the car.

I have to thank you for your guidance based on your experience.  Yeah, hope everything is smooth all the way from the delivery of the car, to the assembly quality and to the service & maintenance of the car.

You are upmost welcome. Glade that able give u some helping hand. Its good to share info here and there especially what we had encounter.
Upon car ready for delivery, the story might not end there. For some, the nightmare just happen to continue on, just beware of it.

For me, i still have some minor defect yet to settle to this date.
Its a very very minor defect. Crack at the black plastic window holder which some members also kena.
Dealer had file the claim with proton but till today, no sound of it even they approve it as installation defect.
Anyway, I settle it myself with installing the door visor which cover the crack. Help to reduce some of the wind noise too, btw.

So, as u had read all the defects from here and there. ESPECIALLY THE FIRST PAGE. do make a list and check thoroughly.
If can, bring famili members together to inspect any defect exterior and interior.
Excitement might blind our eyes upon getting the new car, but not to the one who u bring along, hopefully.

Anyway, if u happen to miss the defect upon delivery and noticed it thereafter, u still can claim it afterward.
From other member, some dealer say up to 1st 5k service. Some say below 1k mileage.
Try check with ur dealer. Defect is not same as warranty.
But to be safe, inform the dealer straight and drive back for them to get evidence and claim as soon as possible.

This is why the need of inspection thoroughly upon delivery before u sign the paper. Settle it on the spot.
If not, potong stim need to drive back again some other day.
