Hello,

I have a psu called Aigo GP 550W.

I am living in Turkey and there is no information about quality of this psu, no one knows about it. sad.gif

While searching on web, i saw aigo psu's are common in Malaysia.

Can you please tell me, is this a good psu ?

I know it's a low-end psu but do you think it is reliable?

Will this psu blow up my system? smile.gif

Thank you.

There's not much reviews on it so no one can really say for sure unless they have used an aigo psu or know someone who has.

Even the budget builds here use corsair vs series when they shouldnt but that has reviews so they know what theyre getting into.

Id spring for a power supply unit that has more reviews just for the piece of mind.

Price equals component quality. A 70 dollar 550W will steamroll a 35 dollar 550W. Lots of low quality parts inside. We don't recommend it here. It comes with protections. I think it should be fine. Just don't push it too hard.

Recommendations from sellers cannot be trusted. They could give you "clear stock" items. There are cases of people selling low quality PSU at high prices as well. Double check before you buy.

If all you will be doing is playing games without overclocking, it should be fine provided that your build is within the power tolerance (don't put stuffs like 3900X and 2080 Super for example).

It's an entry level cheap PSU from China.

Buy if you really cannot afford anything better, it'll do the job but nobody knows how long it will last.

Some cheap PSU the 12v rail is rated only 29A compared to high end ones with same 'marketed' 650 wattage provides 48-526A

PSu has Chinese components inside.70$ psu probably has japanese components which are much more reliable.
My aigo PSU is 550 watt and my pc build is Nvidia 1660S + Ryzen 5 1600AF.
Nvidia recommends 450 watt psu for 1660S and according to psu watt calculators my pc will draw 390 watt at full load.
I hope this 550watt psu can handle well, i am not pushing the limits i guess.

using this psu with a high end build would be such a bad idea.My gpu is 1660S. Not a really high power demanded gpu.

Cables are really looking good.
My friend had a really expensive psu and it killed his 2 ssd's because of a single sata power cable fault.
I guess chinese components are not that bad, after all years of experiences and improvements.

Can't trust low tier capacitors. Only company that uses lower tier parts I trust is FSP.

Should not have issue with your current build.

Cheap psu tend to run hot / less efficient. Find decent one for long lasting use.

You ask for opinion, people tell you that PSU is of bad quality, but then here you are trying to defend it
So why bother opening this thread at all?

not sure good or not. never try never know.
but we can not find the brand and model in 80plus website:
https://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80PlusPowerSupplies.aspx
so, very sure the power efficiency is not verified or certified (although it claim it got 80plus bronze) .
and have higher chance that the Watt it claimed is over-rated as well .

Since u already bought it, so...
1) If I were u, I would treat it like a 450w or 500w psu..
2) And for safety purpose, use it only in 230v country . eg: malaysia, singapore, china, blah blah blah..and had better not to try it in 115v countries.
3) make sure the fan of psu is spinning, then u shall be fine.
4) beside that, had better turn off your pc ,and un-plug it in bad weather (thunder storm)
(if your internet is ADSL/VDSL, u have to disconnect your telephone line from your modem as well !!! ).
5) and turn off your pc, and un-plug it while power-grid become less stable...

Cheap PSU will have cheap components aka cap ayam.. Overtime these components in this cheap PSU will deteriorate .. cap ayam capacitors used that was responsible to smooth voltage/current rippling will go beyond tolerance level.. which may cause system stability issues or worse causing permanent damage to your PC components.

High end PSUs also deteriorate, just at a much much slower rate then those cheap PSUs because of high quality parts

Depends on "stress level" ... high stress level (High end GPU/CPU) may accelerates deterioration. if your PC doesn't stress as much like an office PC... well it may keep up.

We all know this psu is bad. When i am saying "i think it's not that bad","i think it's good" that's compared to low tier chinese psu's.
These are my thoughts so far. I am not defending this psu.
Thing i need to learn is how bad this psu is. If it's good enough to provide power to a gtx 1660S for few years.I think it's a good psu.

Great tips. Thank you so much! I will definetely keep an eye on it.

We use 230 volt here too.
I just checked the fan after i saw your comment. It's spinning.I will check it regularly.
Didn't know that telephone line is dangerous on bad weather. Great tip!

it's not that bad we would think, because there is no single review about aigo psu that warrants it as bad. well, there's no review at all for aigo psu. so I can try to look at actual mainland chinese customer's review on aigo psu products though. let me dig..

If u r looking for the negative comments online, u can always find some..
if the psu at this price range also cheapskate on the X and Y capacitors , that's really doesn't look good..
btw, we don't know if the item they sold oversea as same as they sold in their country?.. hmm.gif
even the model exactly same, they r not necessary same thing ..
(most third world countries ,including Malaysia , selling the best grade product oversea.. currency issue..)

and even the best psu makers in the world ,also got lousy product line, and faulty items..
so, I don't judge the 'whole brand' just for a product or product line.
I'm hoping we can find some professional local review.. but I guess we can't.. drool.gif

those X and Y capacitors mostly do the EMI and RFI noise filtering, so if have doubt with it, u can add a Surge Arrest / Surge protector outlet that come with that function by your own...
I guess around RM60 already can get a good quality one. icon_idea.gif
btw, I don't bother, as long as it can turn on /off normally everytime.. it just work... devil.gif
