Hi All, Iām new to tyre knowledge. Will be getting a VW Polo and thinking to upgrade the rim and tyre to 17inch (which is more choices of rim pcd 5x100). Stock tyre was Goodyear 185/60/15.
My driving habit is quite aggressive š on both dry & wet, so prefer a good wet grip & breaking as well as cornering.
Currently thinking :
195/50/15, 205/50/16, 215/45/17
Michelin PS3/4
Continental CC6
Bridgestone RE003/4
What you guys suggesting? And any good shop recommend for 5x100rims? Just notice it was hard to find for both 15 or 16
195/50/15 is too small in diameter compared to your stock size. You can use 195/55/15, slightly smaller but still within tolerance and more choices of UHP tires. PS3 is the best choice here, followed by probably the new RE004 and GY F1D5.
205/50/16 is slightly larger than stock diameter but still ok. You might experience slightly heavier acceleration. Best choice is PS4 here. For 16', the closest conversion to your stock size is 195/50/16 but this size has less choices. Try to find the new GY F1 Sport, possibly the best choice here.
215/45/17 is too big. For 17, the closest one is 215/40/17 but this size also not as common and it's pretty thin already hence your ride will be pretty harsh/bumpy, so IMHO not recommended to go 17.
As for CC6, forget about it, it's lousy tires in terms of grip and performance! It's only good for comfort, silence, and longevity. It's the lowest and cheapest category from Continental.
For rims, try find Konig or Advanti Storm, both are good quality light rims from Taiwan with very affordable prices (less than half the price of similar quality Japan rims).
