What do you think of the A570 IS?

A good camera for price below RM1k. . . I think I am going to get one also. . . .

I'm planning to get this model as well.

I saw few promotions that priced this model at RM 999. So tempted but I'm a little broke!

Either I get 710 IS or 570 IS. The main difference will be the DIGIC processor; 710 IS with DIGIC 2 and 570 IS with DIGIC 3. Tough call!

Canon website promotion stated that RM999 got free 1Gb SD card and the camera case also. . . till this month end. . .

Added on August 5, 2007, 10:36 pm570IS got face detection (becoz of the DIGIC3) and 1600 ISO. . . 710IS got 6X optical zoom, but RM200+- more expensive. . .

Good for indoor shots. From my experience, ISO400 + IS should be good enough for no-flash photography for slow-moving subjects.
Too bad its ISO 800 and above is like crap. ISO800 + IS you can use AT NIGHT OUTDOORS (but with some street lighting lar...).

Anything above ISO 400 is a bunch crap for entry level models. ISO 1600 won't attract me.

for max ISO, A570 got 1600, A710 got 800, so will it possible when taking picture at 400 or 800, the one with 1600 will have better quality??

Higher ISO will introduce more noise. So, I don't think high ISO will produce better quality. You might to compensate or fine tune other manual parameters.

No no no, what I mean is if a chip is able to take picture at ISO 1600, when it taking picture at 400, will the quality is more better compare with a chip only able to take max ISO with 400 only??

Ooo, now I understood your question.
Answer is: NOT necessarily, but you can assume it will be. Best if you can try out for yourself.
Just grab any candidate camera at a store, and purposely set the exposure compensation (EV value) to -1.0 or -2.0 to make the shot artificially dark. That will bring out the worst of the high ISO noise that you ordinarily can't see in good lighting. The logic of this test is that you'll need high ISO only with insufficient lighting (dark scenes) and good to test it at its most crucial usage scenario.

Has anybody here used the camera before? What's the camera's slowest shutter speed that the IS can take?

Is the camera any good in taking sports or animal pictures?

I see. . . so wat you think about this A570IS vs the A710IS? A570IS win all the way (except the 4x vs 6x optical)??

Mmm... good question, but an online review said something about not worth the extra bucks for just the zoom.... I'm not sure though... does it have the same features?

ever consider a F31fd?
I got mine 2 weeks ago in S'pore, after converted (charge by credit card) is RM1085 with 2gb xD +case+screen protector+mini tripod.

From some website I read Digic 3 having faster speed and a little bit better battery consumption. . .

cyanide, I went looking for the f31 in kl but could not find one. Since I'm not doing any traveling and am not into online purchases I doubt I will be able to find the camera.
And by the way, can I tweak with the shutter speed for the f31? Thanks.
